Legal question...

Have a 'friend' who i have found out today has a court case against him...

and looking through the court bits and said 'Jury retire to consider verdict' .

Then next entry says ' Case To Be Listed For Sentence On XX-XXXX-2012'

Would i be right in thinking he has been found guilty?

Reason i ask is that its a bad crime and will affect a lot of people around him if he is found guilty.

Thanks.

No legal knowledge here but logic says you're right. Why would there be a sentencing date if he wasn't guilty?

Sounds about right to me, if he was found not quilty he would have been acquitted and would expect that to be noted and be the last note on the file. Usually a gap between being found guilty and sentencing to allow preparation of reports from Probation etc.
