Average Camera's

If you go too fast through a single average camera will it get you??

Just been through a 50mph section on the M62, was keeping my speed at 50mph, but then there was a crash not far in front of me, obviously stopped for a few minutes & then crept past before booting it (having forgotten about the cameras!). Passed a camera at 60+ before realising & slowing down again.

Will the camera ignore that one indescrecion & stick with the average (passed the final one at 40mph to compensate )

'Average' tells you that you don't have to worry about it.
It will calculate your point of entry --> point of exit and calculates the distance / time to get the average speed.

I was just wondering whether there might be some trigger point where you just get a 'standard' ticket - for example what if I'd hit 100mph on that isolated camera (not much chance as I was in the QQ!!).

Although you should be fined very heavily for writing "camera's".

.................and shot for "indescrecion"

I always wave & smile at the last camera in an average speed area,my reasoning being, that should I get a ticket the photo would look good in a frame, and be a good xmas gift for my mum, bless her.

Probably just me though

So you were typing and driving at 60mph past a camera? Jesus, they're going to throw the book at you.

The specs cameras can't actually monitor your speed at that particular point . They just read your reg and note the time at which you passed through.

+1 SPECS cameras don't / can't measure speed.

They just read your plate on the way in and then on the way out and the ANPR computer divides the time it took you buy the distance between the cameras.

Bit like the old police VASCAR equipment, all down to timing.

They don't take pics of you either do they? They simply recognise reg numbers. They don't have a flash AFAIK so there is no point posing for snaps! (correct me if I'm wrong).

Are you sure?

If that is true,I've been wasting my efforts,I'd be grateful if you could test out what could be a wrong theory though.

Thanks in advance

Anyone ever done the one where you drive close up to a truck so they can't read your plate?

This is particularly easy on the road to Cairnryan as the trucks are huge and generally not moving very fast.

Seems kind of pointless.

Up a lorries arse at 50mph>drive like a loon for a mile>find lorry>up its arse again at 50mph>drive like a loon for a mile>rinse and repeat.

I'd like to see the YouTube vid though

If thru only measure you 'time' at the start & end why have a series of cameras?

Sounds like I'll be Ok (this time ).

Multiple average zones roger.

You never know when one starts or ends, could be between each pair of cameras, or a composite average of the whole run, with smaller zones in between.

Who knows enough to risk it?

Not stills, but it's continuous video recording remember.

They have infra red lights either side of the high res video cameras for night use.

The high res video stills can probably be used for pictures if needed as evidence.
