Steering wheel nasty shake?
So ive been having this problem now for a while, my steering wheel violently shakes when im on the brakes from highway speeds. There is a small amount of shaking for slow speeds too. My rotors on my right side are slightly rough but not too bad. When i let go of the wheel the car slows down fine and you dont feel the shaking, the shaking is only in the steering wheel. I dont want to go replace the rotors and that doesnt solve the problem. so i want to know if there are any other possible answers to this problem.

I just fixed this last weekend. I was sure the control arm bushings were shot but once I got the car up in the air the bushings looked fine. The front rotors looked pretty bad upon closer inspection. I replaced the rotors and all is well. From the looks of it there was some pretty bad pad deposits on the rotor.
I'm not sure if the previous owner changed to a different compound of pad and the old and new didn't agree or what. |

It s the control arm bushings... Go buy bushings from dealership, have the shop do it & alignment also... It s much cheaper than dealership... I have the same problem too... After fixed, everything is good ...

That's what I thought as well...bought a complete set, got under the car and they were all fine. It's worth a look before spending that much.

I have the same issue right now. I took it to a local shop thinking control arms but they said everything looked fine but that my rotors were probably wrapped. OP take it to a shop and tell them to look at your bushing (or do it urself if you know how) and if they're fine its gotta be your rotors. My rotors were only 6 months old...

Could be the wheel bearings. Do you feel anything while turning right or left?
