Hi bit of a newbie so sorry in advance, anyway had my pads and sensors changed by my dealer 6 months ago and all has been fine tll today , my car has been sat on the drive for about 4 days through the worst of the snow and frost and today I started her up and the idrive has flashed up to change front and rear pads but I know they are fine cos iv only covered 3k and they look fine and only last week I checked the idrive and it reckoned they had 18k left in them? Looks like something has bust but any ideas on how to sort this please?????? Can't be arsed to travel 30 miles to my dealer please help

Have you taken it for a drive and got some heat in the brakes to rule out temperature (although it's hard to see why temp would be a problem but you never know...).
p.s. Welcome

Yeah I use both keys all the time I reckon both the sensors all gone up the creek but weird why they both went the same time, don't want to do a reset cos the mileage will be out ? Or will it work its self out?

You might need a reset for now.
Anything conductive between sensor head and the disc will short them out. That might include snow or ice / water for any degree of time. So it thinks the sensor (and the pad) is worn I suspect, as thats how they work - Pad wears and puts wear sensor closer to the disc until it touches. Steve

I think that it is actually an open circuit created by the wearing away of the sensor head that triggers it.
My Sister's car was saying that the front pads needed changing after 16k miles. But on inspection the cable to the pad sensor had fractured. Therefore open circuit at the time that the warning was triggered.
