Cutting a resonator in half to shorten it - Is that ok?

So I want to throw in a set of resonators just to take out a tiny bit of rasp I am experiencing, without taming the exhaust any further, I like a loud exhaust.

However I don't really have room in the midpipes to throw in a full 12" resonators so I was thinking of cutting it in half into a 6" resonator and welding in only 6 inches of the resonator right before the mufflers or right after the downpipes, wherever I can make them fit. Or I could cut out the middle 4-5 inches of the resonator and then weld the two ends of the resonator together without the middle 4-5 inches.

Will cutting a resonator damage its functionality?

You will have to be able to weld the inner perforated tube together then weld the outer casing together after. Just keep looking for other short resonators at Jegs or Summit Racing would be my first two places to look.

10-12" seems to be the standard for small resonators.

Looking for something a bit smaller so it has minimal effect on volume, deals with the rasp and can fit into midpipes with an X-pipe and Secondary cats in place.
