Not everyone needs to. There are enough posts on there for people to see REAL WORLD RESULTS from various platforms runing different types of mods/tunes.
On this platform alone (EDIT: correction 335i ONLY not including 5 series and 1 series and Xi models)there are 223 individual post for time slips by many different people runing all sorts of mods/tunes.

Hot rod, you should run the PROcede. Maybe shiv will let you run it for free at a track event. I'm curious if you could run the same times with that tune.

I get shell gas 99% of the time. A couple of weeks ago BP was my only option and I swear my car was running worse.

chili36 Please don't bury him in facts......Proceed had no trouble getting a Drag Times listing when claiming the non-N2O World Championship, but that was a few years ago; this is now & things have moved on.

If somebody selling a performance product had access to info showing better performance numbers then a major competitor they would manage to get it posted at DT & be listed higher then the current 9th or 17th on the 135i list.

BTW did a search on his screen name across a few BWM sites & the comments about the quality of his posts was interesting.

Just trying to open his eyes. But looks to be a lost cause.
I've seen his post and reputation on the other sites.

At Hotrod's level, assuming boost/timing/AFR was the same, results would be close to identical.

Exactly. That's why I haven't ponied up for one. Although I'd rather get an AIM Solo anyway.

What I do own but is hidden somewhere in the garage is a Beltronics Vector FX1 Accelerometer. Anyone use one of these? I don't expect it to be anywhere near as accurate as the Vbox but I figure it should be okay to use for baseline/improvements on my car. Yes? Or does the iPhone accelerometer work just as good making this Beltronics totally useless?

HR, do you have an iPhone?

If so, do me a favor... Download one of those free 1/4 mile accelerometer apps and see how it compares to the Vbox. I'd be interested to see how close (or far) it runs.

Btw, I'm really surprised there's not a cheaper alternative to the Vbox. From what I know, that Vbox setup is getting old and the price of the technology must be fairly cheap by now. Aren't decent gps units selling for $99?

Problem is that most consumer GPS' aren't quite as fast as the VBOX(10hz) and therefore arent as accurate. Gtech recently released a VBOX competitor: http://www.gtechprostore.com/cgi-bin...on&key=0500501

Get a life bud if I'm posting under two screen names (which I'm not) you might just be Terry lol!!!

The only forum I am on is E90post I was referred to BeemerBoost by Hotrod posting a quote from people who have nothing better to talk about but E90post threads and it's members.

If you wanna look up my reputation I am the following

SikhM3(e46fanatics)
SikhM6(M5/M6board)
And Sikh335 here

One post on Beemer boost does not constitute a reputation. The reputation you are refereeing to is Dezenno getting banned based on his own Trolling and all those that defend or follow him backing him up and bashing my posts(Themyst, Terry, Sticky, lostmarine and various JB folks). You may talk about my post all you want if you take the time to read them and not believe everything you have heard then you will know that I have yet to bash any tune and only defend what is black and white. In the case Dzenno(which is the instigator of my so called bad reputation) he posted in a lrocede thread that someone's Procede AFR would blow his engine he also stated that the logged Procede AFR is not a true AFR and that he Procede runs very lean. Basically that the calculated AFR logged is a fake number. I called him out and even spent the money to get my car put on a dyno with an exhaust bung installed to map the actual AFR. Look it up under this same forum. He was proved wrong and he got pissed and still is pissed. I don't know or care what happened between him and shiv in the past all I can say is since I've been running the Procede it has not been lean nor have any motors been lost since the Procede I production to the N54 community.

I'm going to try a bluetooth GPS off amazon before I shell out $500 for the vbox, so we'll see how that works with these Android apps. It's a 1/5/10hz unit, so as long as you have a dual core processor phone in theory it should give accurate numbers. It's $65 so it's worth a try if you ask me

Too bad that Gtech doesn't do 60-130 or I'd consider it.

I don't think you need a dual core processor to handle a 10hz gps signal lol. I've tried a 10hz bluetooth gps and an app on my old pocket pc phone and it was consistently .1 to .2 seconds off what the VBOX read. Besides, no one will believe numbers from anything but a VBOX. Heck a large portion of people on here still doubt the VBOX and insist on dynos and timeslips.

I'm sure it will be the same stellar reputation you have here. Besides the reputation comment was directed at fastbimmern54.
The "open your eyes" comment was directed at you. Relax dont take it as an insult. It's constructive criticism!

Cool story bro! But I could care less.
You did how ever manage to come off the same way on BB as you do here.
Very transparent.

Several reviews of this particular line of devices talk about the older android phones having trouble with 5hz and 10hz, likely because they weren't designed to handle such a large amount of traffic over bluetooth. The dual core phones work much better with very little lag, I doubt anyone knows if this is due to the increased processor or upgraded bluetooth capability, either way newer phones work better for 5hz and 10hz.

A vbox/gtech/android app is just for me, I really don't care what anonymous people on a forum think of my testing runs. If I want to post something for a record I'll do a standard timeslip from a track on dragtimes.

I have an Android X. I downloaded the Car Performance App that measures 0-60, 0-100, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 60' times, etc. I was excited about using it. Then I saw the numbers it put out. They were all over the place. Absolutely useless for meaningful comparisons.

The GPS radio in most phones is either 1hz or 2hz, they (app makers) try to make up for the difference by using algorithms but in my experience all of them are very poor and not consistent. I'm just hoping by using an external GPS at 5hz or 10hz that I can gain some consistency, which is all I need to be able to test changes I do to my car.

If it doesn't work, I'll be grabbing a vbox, they seem to be extremely hard to find used though, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing

I talked to the owner/engineer of the Gtech Fanatic. He is working on some new firmware, and says elevation will be part of it. I will get one soon as he is finished to do a Vbox/Gtech Comparo.

PS. Who is going to make it on Saturday Dec 10th for the private track rental?? Hopefully this is ample enough notice!
