All,
I've been experiencing the same problem. I've called into my local service advisor but am still waiting on a call back. While I'm waiting, I do have a question regarding the service bulletin that's available to address this issue. Depending on whether you look at the NHTSA document (March 2007 through May 2011), or the actual service bulletin (2/28/2007 through 5/30/2011), I fall on the EXACT line for my car to be covered. My car date of manufacture is 02/07...what are the odds I will get admitted into a repair for this, or should I simply be prepared to foot the bill myself? I cannot imagine anything changed between February and March 2007 with the distribution box connections, and the exact problem being described has been happening to me. I don't know the ins and outs of service bulletins, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I just spent almost $4000 on another repair a few months ago for the serpentine belt hitting the subframe and have to have all of the assemblies (including the steering pulley and all that) replaced. This was listed as a service bulletin, but I was offered nothing in the way of compensation or assistance other than the exorbitant repair bill. It's going to absolutely break my heart and my mind to have another $2,000 repair in my first year of ownership of this car. Last edited by gtje15; 01-19-2017 at 10:48 AM.. Thank you so much for the write up! I found that you don't have to route the cable under the seats. Its super easy, no splicing needed! Here is a crappy video I made showing how I ran the cable.

Has anyone experienced this issue with a vehicle outside of the production dates per the recall? I have a 2006 325i produced in mid-2015 and am experiencing the exact same symptoms.
Has anyone been successful in BMWNA covering the costs? TIA |

I’m dealing with this same issue, with one twist: can’t reliably reproduce until I’m in an inconvenient situation. Each time the dead car has happened, ‘waiting ‘ solved the problem. Last night, I got a ride home, went back this morning to try a fix, and the car acts like “what? Nothing is wrong... you are crazy! BTW, can you set my clock?” So, pics please. I’m grabbing the back of the fuse box trying to make the car die. I think I have to drive around with the fuse box exposed Like the OP How can I make it fail? 2007 328i |

I didn’t read enough before posting. I’m finding LOTS of info about this issue.
But I do wonder if in 2018 a service center would honor the service bulletins https://www.e90post.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=561038&d=1312229036 https://www.e90post.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=561037&d=1312229036 https://www.e90post.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=545463&d=1309107726 |

Removal of recall installed cable
I am replacing my fuse box with the recall installed cable and initially could not remove the cable connection from the box blade . Eventually, I got it removed. So, the screw on the connection forces down a wedge to create a clamp on the box blade. I removed the screw, bent back the connector portion with the screw hole, fully exposing the wedge. I then reinstalled the screw, grabbed it with pliers, and was able to forcibly extract the wedge, and the connector came off. It was on pretty damn good but got it off without any apparent damage to the fuse box connector. Hope this helps someone.

I just encounter this problem but i find there are 2 different cabels
Part number: 61129312133 or 61129269907 which cabel should I choose? I understand the first part number is not swaping out the entire thing just a new end connection to the fuse box. Appreciate some help! |

I might be having this same issue. So the easier way is just replacing the whole cable like above?
