Sergej is the man. The update worked perfectly. Now I know that my business is listed twice as a POI. One as the correct address and another as my home address! Thanks NAVTEQ. At least the incorrect address has an old phone # that is no longer in service. I'm just happy that it worked and at least the POIs are much more current than the 2009 maps. We'll see if the roads are updated as well.

Before I ran across this thread yesterday, I had no idea that I would update my nav... I just figured it would be expensive and require a trip to the stealership.

I started the map download yesterday morning, waited until I had about two hours left and then I sent Sergej an email inquiring about the price of my FSC code. Before the download finished, Sergej sent me the FSC code... The update itself took about 40 minutes and went very smooth.

everything i did was correct , map, path, F32 , USB place , etc

I tried Transcend 32Gb as it has better reviews but no luck , just nothing
order Scandisk 32Gb from Amazon again today , will try again in 2 days

should work with any usb thumb drive thats 32gb and under. when u start using higher capacity drives, it gets picky.

So what is the total cost to upgrade to 2013 maps? Is it only $42 + thumb drive?

There were a lot of seeders last night. I was able to get the file in about 6 hours. I e-mailed Sergej this morning and was able to get a code from him before my second cup of coffee. Hoping to update my 09 maps tonight.

Like Eric212nyc said above, there were a lot of seeders yesterday. I got my file. I emailed Sergej before I finished the download with my VIN. He replied saying that I might have a earlier version of the firmware and that I might not be able to. He asked me to check with the USB first to see if it asks for the FSC Code before paying him to generate the code. Good guy!!!

I tried that. Maps version was not being detected by my car. Mine's a 12/09 build, 2010 BMW 335xi with 6FL, iDrive, Nav etc. USB is a 32 GB Sandisk formatted for FAT32!

I am confused now guys. I checked here: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...update_vin.jsp and it says my software is up to date as well! I wonder what is going on.

Looks like I have to go to the dealer for firmware update!

I think you guys who are not getting the option to update your maps when you plug in your usb drives are in an older firmware version. You might have to take it to the stealership for that firmware update. Thats my guess why it isnt working for you guys. Should be straight forward update.

Guys - everyone for who the maps version was not being detected - I got it to work for mine. I was facing the same issue for my 12/09 build 2010 model via the USB port in my hand-rest.

i got it to work via the port in the glovebox and now I have the latest version of the maps.

Try both guys!

mmm
we all know that only glove box works but if you have old software you have 2 options
1. update firmware at dealer
2. use DVD to upload

i will try 1) first but can someone tell me how to use option 2) ? Map i downloaded is 22Gb .. or i can get DVD somewhere ready to use
