It's a lot more than satnav.. tell you alot about your car from service required, travel info, points of interest bla bla, lots more than just satnav guidance. Once You use it you'll find it hard to go back to the older dash..

Why???

Firstly so your car doesn't look so "basic"

Secondly because it's far more than just a sat Nav. It's a whole command unit.

It's 2012 Bruv, even my 118d loaner had one...

Keep using your smart phone attached to a sucker on your windscreen.

We will keep using our residual value keeping built in Sat-Nav's LOL

the BMW live drive is amazing but just for satnav is pointless. I use a brodit mount and bracket which gives hard wired power and all the toys the idrive nearly gives.

The fact is cars with the units are more desirable next time when buying I will certainly consider it just cause of resale

I know where all the motorways are but when i visit a different new destination so many times a week all over the country i need a sat nav. Having a built in one with all the added benefits is great, i wouldn't have a car without it.

On a 1 series I can't see it making much difference in the grand scheme of things to be fair. Not everyone uses nav. My 58 m3 has got it and its just as crap as the 335

You don't have to give the stealer a reason just simply Say no I don't want it. End of.

I see where you are coming from but after using a tom tom for years its so much nicer having one built in even though its not as good as the tom tom.
All the other bits that come with the idrive system are good though, and it just looks better than a car without it.
