Stupid question (re tire pressure) but I couldn't find an answer doing a search....
Before anyone tells me to or to check my owners manual...I already did a search and could not come up with anything relevant. And I am moving soon and packed my owners manual because it doesn't fit in the damn glove box.
Today I got a "low tire pressure" indication on my idrive so I pulled into my garage checked the pressure and it was around 19PSI...I looked at the tire and it says max 40 PSI which seems kinda high to me. I checked all of my other tires and they were all around 28PSI. I added air to all of the tires and brought the pressure to 35PSI. The ride felt much better and actually smoother and tighter. But while launching I noticed alot more wheelspin which I expected. My questions are as follows... To achieve optimal fuel economy, ride quality and comfort. What is the manufacturers recomended tire pressure? To achieve optimal performance as far as launching and handling what is optimal for both front and back? **My car is sitting on stock 18" RFT's** 07 E92 335i. I think he was looking for more complex of a response that I unfortunately do not know. All I know is what it says on the door. I leave mine around 2-3lbs lower than the recommended levels that are printed on the dollar and I still avg 24.2 mpg and that is with being nice to her sometimes and other times driving her like I stole her

19psi in one with 28 on the others says to me nail in tire-- did you check to see if there was a puncture.
40psi max is the max for seating the beads when mounting the tire-- the max cold pressure for potenzas is 51psi. right now i'm running 36 all around... i might increase it to 38 as i just got my first sidewall bubble. stupid NYC potholes.

I'm currently playing with 37 PSI front and 36 PSI in the rear on my 19" tires. The higher front PSI is to counter the understeer. I think it does a good job.
On 18" tires...try 35 PSI front and 34 PSI in the rear. Adjust accordingly. |
