I know there is probably a thread covering this but I couldn't find it... sorry for the repost if that's the case...

I just finished installed my Turner boost gauge and I couldn't find the correct wire for the illumination... The instructions say something about a blue/red stripe wire but it doesn't work... (I don't have the front ashtray and cig lighter).

Is there any other wire I could use?

It says right under the red writing, in the chart. Pin#14.

I got that...

But if it's possible, I'd like to get a more accessible location to tap the illumination wire of the gauge... No need to have the dim function, I just want the gauge's light to turn on/off with the car's lights...

Ohhh gotcha. Wouldn't any 12v source work? From what you said above it looks like they tap the the power from the cig lighter in the ashtray right? Try the cig lighter in your armrest? You can access the wire by taking off the panel for the ac vents in the back seat. However this is a ACC switched source. I think the one in the ashtray is too though.

As of now, the gauge's light is always on (tapped in the passenger cig lighter under the dashboard)

I'm looking for the wire that will tun the gauge's light on/off with the car's headlights.

Well...

I tried to locate the illumination wire in the light switch and it didn't work... In the process of putting everything back together, I noticed the trunk switch.

It has a light that goes on with the car's light so I took the surrounding trim off and got to the wires. Guess what??!!?? one of them is the illumination wire!!!

So for 09+ E90 owners, here's an easy wire to get the gauge's light to works (and dim) with the car's lights (it's the wire with the red stripe on it...):





To get to that wire, you need to take off two trims... First, the underdash cover (3 torx screws) and then the trunk switch/OBDII port trim.

Then you need to remove the screw holding the hood release and there's another screw hiding behind that release (easy to see once you get the release lever off) To remove the truck switch, remove the OBDII little door and get your fingers in there! Mine came off easily... but don't pull too hard!

Here's a picture of the trim removed and the location of the clips/screw location:
