Today's mod
Removed my roof rails today and fitted the replacement inserts without holes.
Got to say I'm really happy with the look - to me it looks sleeker and more sporty, in character with the M Sport look. Before:- After:- Apologies for the wierd angles my drive is very steep!! Last edited by Rob GTI; 06-12-2012 at 03:32 PM.. |

Looks good.
Was it an easy / reasonably priced job?? Can it be fairly quickly returned to standard to fit the roof box on for holidays etc??? Mike |

Hmmm, I always liked the roof rails on the e91 and the A4 avants. However I know what its like to want a change.
So long as its reversible if/when you choose to then more power to you. |

looks better with them on as i think the tourer is a lovely motor but the rails add a bit to the aggression.

Thanks - thats the way I see it - more and more modern estates (wagons) have smaller or no rails know - much cleaner! But better Each to their own I suppose... |

For me personally its akin to seeing someone you know everyday who wears glasses, then one day they start wearing contact lenses. Its not a bad look, just a bit wierd.
It'll only take a few more days for me to adjust to seeing them in contacts and then it seems like a no brainer. Excellent mod. |

Thanks - if I had had the slimmer late model slimmer rails I prolly wouldn't have bothered as they are more in keeping with the car's character, I did consider them as a retrofit but went this route to have something unique.

I think it looks really good - clean/slick look.
I must say, seeing al these tourers makes me really want to get one for my next motor. Wierd coz i am traditionally a coupe guy, who then moved onto saloons (although bought a remapped 2 door mk4 GTI for a laugh ) and now tourers...bizarre! |
