WTB: AFe DCI or BMS/Vishnu DCI

Looking to see if anyone has a surplus aFe DCI or BMS/Vishnu DCI lying around.

PM me if you know of one.

Loses power? Any facts to back up that claim?

HP Autowerkes uses AFE intakes on their various bmw's with great results. ie: gains, not losses.

I'm curious to know why you think this.

I have read that using the aFe setup loses power. I have also read that it makes great power. There is a crap load of info to sort through, even harder to get a consistent viewpoint on the aFe. The general consensus on the BMS/Vishnu DCI is that it does work freeing up air flow compared to the restrictive flow of air through the stock air box.

Lets face it, they are both DCI's and both draw in hot engine air albeit a little cooler with the Stage 2 aFe setup with scoops. I am sure though that whatever the car drives through, bugs, flung up dirt, whatever, will end up in the engine bay using scoops with an unsealed air box.

I am going FBO with Helix IC, AR catless and wanted to trial both DCI setups to see what works for me.

Everything I have read so far is typically in its favor. Screw it, I'm still buying a DCI setup. Wopalx: sorry if i seemed a little harsh, i was genuinely surprised to hear it loses power after all the positive reviews and threads i've read.

As an owner of an ate stage 2 intake, my highly tuned bum dump tells me that power is up marginally (dci was my first mod), it's not +1m HP as Afe would say, but it s noticeable

Not to turn this thread into aother intake debate, but just my experience with them:

We have seen open intakes produce an increase of 8whp over stock paper filter. As I have stated in other posts, it's impossible to definitively test intakes without a dyno/wind tunnel facility, which we don't have. What we can demonstrate quite scientifically is that on high HP cars, you can measure a significant change in power by removing the paper filter from a stock intake box. We have done this several times. Put a tuned N54 car with stock intake on the dyno, do your runs, then remove the paper filter and you increase peak power by 8-10whp.

my 2 cents is from my research (forums only) is that the stock airbox is best for city driving as the IAT's are lower on the track DCI.

Mind My preference would always be a CAI but for the gains I couldn't be arsed

sorry I just wanted to point out there is a member who has a DCI FS, for the sound factor olone buy it, if you dont like it sell it to another member
