help! air intake options for D's
Been really searching hard the last few weeks for an air intake / open air filter which is going to be compatible with the N57 engine. I have quite a limited understanding on what makes an air filter compatible with an exact model, but since there are no real model-specific options out there for the diesel BMW's i've been looking at universal stuff.
Any opinions or advice on the following would be really appreciated: K&N apollo http://www.knfilters.com/universal/apollo.htm http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&k=s&p=338RC5052AL Bullydog RFI http://intakesystems.com/p-175-bully...ir-filter.aspx Im looking mainly for improved sound, but obviously improved performance is going to be a + and heatsoak is going to be a - .. if either are going to be potentially damaging then thats a big - so a heads up would be great! Any advice on how much of either i can expect would be great! also my car is a 325d, if i find a filter advertised for a 335d what stops that being compatible with mine, other than maybe space in the engine bay? thanks in advance to anyone who can help. |

I have used K&N filters for years and had no problems, gains are very very slight in myo but its not like they cost a bomb.
Some people complain the K&N filters screw up the MAF sensor due to the oil in them but this has never been an issue for me. Cant answer any of your other queries though. |
