You're running on very early hardware since remoteKEY was beta-tested on your e92 back in '07. You will need a new module and harness (complete kit).

I saw the DIY, and had a question regarding routing of the piezo buzzer wire through the firewall. That location in the ECU box has a fan there, so wouldn't the wire actually be going through the fan blades? See #4 & 5 in the following link.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...27&hg=12&fg=35 I am interested, but it concerns me that the wire will interfere with the ECU fan |

Any future plan to include courtesy lights (angel rings on after lock/unlock) like the later pre-LCI E90s?

Possibly, if we have the ability to control these.

Whats up tom. As a suggestion I wish you would make individual boxes that do certain things and make them cheaper. Like I just need the auto up windows and door unlock. I still plan on buying one oneday soon. Glad to see that you are finding new uses for the remotekey.

These modules were a bit overengineered - just in case additional features were added in the near future - the updates were a simple software update away.

Heres a thought. If I buy the oem alarm and install it myself but do NOT get it programmed by the dealer, it seems that the remotekey will complete the features that the dealership activation would.
So a remotekey and oem alarm, will have all the features that the dealer charges to activate on the alarm? I hate going to the dealer and would like to avoid them if possible. I hope that makes sense.

Alarms are useless in today's society, most people simply ignore an alarm sounding off as a nuisance. If an experienced wants your car - he will have it. remoteKEY does not sound a siren or have a proximity sensor - it is meant to be a deterrent, not an alarm present. Save your money on the OEM alarm. If you have an OEM alarm, you only need the 4 wire installation as the alarm-emulation features of the remotekey module would be unnecessary.

There was no ECU fan present in our MY09 M3 install.

OK, after doing some research I think there are two holes in the ECU box, one that goes to the fan, and one that doesn't. The one that does is behind the curved plastic thing on the back of the ECU box, and obviously you are going below that, so looks like everything is fine. Thanks!

Not with the same module as they are likely on different networks. We'll explore other options in the near future.
