I have an IS300 and an E93 335...I'd never...not in a million years, or for a million dollars, replace teh N54 with a 2JZ.

How about an N52 that makes 1/5th the power of a tuned 2JZ? This man doesnt have an N54.

...unless you reprogram it to show that it's an M3 when you start it up.. it's just a mere shell
So, if you want a REAL transformation, follow what this guy did: http://e46.mit.edu/ |

I love this job, buddy. I've been trying to convince the wife to let me do the same on my 335d. Only difference would be that I would use the badge (the one stating "335d"). I love the looks of the m3 (who doesnt) but i would want to make sure people know its not an m3, but rather a very uncommon diesel. Never going to get the stamp of approval on that one though, so in the meantime I will make due living vicariously through skilled folks such as yourself.
Keep up the good work & thanks for posting project reports to contribute to the forum. I'm sure these will help a lot of folks who are considering the conversion. |

"Because in Greece, you can buy two and half 325i's for the price of one M3. And in many countries the registration fee/tax increases exponentially with engine size/power/CO2 levels."

If we can live in a world where we dont burn every single donk I see running around the South East USA, we can certainly live with a converted to look like M3. I agree I wouldn't have spent the money on this, but I'm sure it will look good and if it makes u happy/what you want... then I say go for it.
Just dont go around telling people its a real M3... thats where it gets kinda poseurish... if u just like the look, and want the look... enjoy! |
