Good places in NoVA for some "spirited" driving, logging pulls, :)

What are some relatively good locations in Nova for some spirited driving?

Talking about long empty stretches, minimal traffic and good visibility..

Try the Culpepper, Bristow, haymarket, Manasses, gainsville areas.

If you are closer to Alexandria, Mexico the WW bridge and 210 are popular logging sites. lol

I live in brambleton and take the greenway all the time, make sure you know where the cops set traps and its mostly passed exit 7 but at times they could sit closer to the tolls... I usualy just look at cars way ahead of me and see if they are hitting their breaks and I have opened up to 120 + with no other cars around until I caught up to the cars in front and slowed down.... Remember that once you pass exit 7, there is almost always a state tropper sitting passed belmont ridge exit.

Yes totally agree with you! I always see troopers right when I get on and when I get off. They are never in the middle though

Yeah, plus I would highly suggest not doing any "spirited driving" in NOVA. Just asking for trouble. You are better off in WV or MD. You could go to summit point or mir. Sorry to be the party pooper but rather u be safe than sorry

The only spirited drive that I personally know of in VA is I-95, I-495 and I-395, you guys should really give it a go. ;-)

MD-200 (the ICC that opened up recently) and the Dulles Greenway are the best in terms of road quality, smoothness and long stretches. Plus, that are not heavily traveled. But of course, have to be careful to not get too carried away and fly past an occasionally hidden trooper along one of the bends or hiding on the on-ramps..

There are only 3 sure things in life,,, death, taxes and getting a ticket on the ICC if you speed. .

Me personally, I don't trust those ez-pass readers on the ICC since if you really do speed, they could work out your average speed from one point to the next!

If you like casinos, the drive up to Hollywood Casino in Charles Town, WV is pretty fun. There's a good amount of twists and turns, straights, and (legal/illegal) places to pass slow drivers. You can take the Greenway, and incorporate the other suggestion(s).

Man you guys speeding on the ICC in MD and anywhere in NOVA are nuts. VA police ticket penalties are bar-none the highest in the area, and the ICC is aggressively patrolled by police. I'm not sure how some people are speeding on the beltway - it's almost always backed up in MoCo and NOVA like 18 hours a day.

The last time I did some "spirited" driving in VA was on the FFX County Parkway - I got pulled over for doing 105 mph in a 50 mph zone. The judge sentenced me to 180 days in jail! Fortunately, the judge suspended 179 of those days, but he also suspended my license for 6 months - and this was before VA got strict.

One 24 hour period of sleeping on the jailhouse floor using my jacket as a pillow, eating bologna sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner was more than enough time for me to reflect on my transgressions.
