What car in 30k range?

Buddy of mine got an offer for his 2007 GTI with an APR stage 2+ kit on it that he can't pass up. Long story short, the car is modded with 80k miles and he's making 4 grand on the deal. In essence, the guy is paying near full price for all of the mods that have been done which we all know is a rarity.

My buddies long term plan was to purchase an S4 (or similar) in the next year or two as his pay in that time will increase to the point of being able to justify the cost but he isn't in the position now.

What he's looking for is more power than the GTI and preferably AWD or RWD.

He's looking at getting a used FWD VW CC (+ tune) with 15k'ish miles on it for mid 20's as he's done with hatches and wants something comfier and roomier.

Low mileage is a necessity as he does not want to work on cars - he spent his life doing it and is over it.

What other car's (2013/2014) in the 25-30k price range should I suggest? The guy is a dub fan and eventually will be picking up an S4 but I'd have to think there's better choices than a CC but maybe not?

Thanks

He's a Dub style fan? Maybe an infiniti G car?

I wouldn't say styling - just more so a fan of the company itself. A G is a possibility but not sure if he'd fit (6'5") and I'm not sure the performance would be there.

I think 30k is going to be about the top of the range so unfortunately the CTS-V is out.

So 30k and a 2013 or 2014 are constraints?

2013/2014 is only a constraint due to warranty and him not wanting to repair vehicles or pay for repairs. It's possible a 2012 (maybe 2011?) would be fine if it has low mileage but I know he'd prefer it to be a newer vehicle so factory warranty exists for several years. I know extended warranties are an option as well.

genesis coupe or 370z? STI or EVO? Maybe S2000 or FRS but not sure if he will fit? Maybe a 335i with cpo warranty?

If a guy is "over" working on cars, then I have no advice for him other than take public transportation.

Pretty silly statement. Obviously this thread isn't for you because I asked for advice on what car to purchase that's 30k or under that he doesn't have to wrench on and you have zero to offer.

I don't think he's going to find a 2012+ STi for 30k or under. I suppose it's possible, but they tend to hold value pretty well. BRZ could be fun, but wouldn't be up on power compared to the GTI (I think, as I don't know anything about the GTI).

Would a WRX suffice?

I've been looking around lately and was surprised how affordable the Genesis 5.0 R-Spec has gotten! That's a lot of car for the money these days...

STI or Evo would be my pick at that price point.

I've never done more than an oil changes (not since high school) and tire changes on any car in my life, nor do I have any plans to. I guess I shouldn't drive them either?

Maybe a '12 328 would fall around 30? Not sure if it's been long enough or if he could find one stripped enough.

+1. If you want a brand new practical sedan in the high 20k range, the 2015 WRX would get my vote.

Not trying to be biased but I think a G37 would be a great option. Even an IPL coupe if he can find it.

My buddy is 6'4" and fits fine in my car. They are high 13 second cars but throw an intake/HFC/exhaust/tune on there and you will be low 13 seconds. You can get a 6 speed coupe/sedan for mid $20k's.

I've had two G37's and they are really great cars...
