So who has the record ? I have went through 5 and I am just over 53K miles.
You would think BMW would do a full check when they get the car for the change, including more checks and a oil change. |

Ok, this might have already been posted.. OR there's simply no way to tell... but what percentage of each MY hpfp has failed?? It'd be nice to know what my chances are if and when I get my 335.. also.. if I get one at auction.. would the hpfp have been replaced by BMW?? (probably a long shot, but I would hope that they would want to prevent more headaches as a result of the recall)

BMW is certainly not that low. Maybe it's 7 of 100, which is totally unacceptable. 7 cars are able to roll off the assembly line and go onto fail, imagine that? It's a number I made up, but I'd think anywhere from 5 to 15 out of 100 is plausible. I've had lots of trouble with my car, but never had a hpfp replaced. People seem to fixate on it, as if it's what causes a 1/2 motor light exclusively. There are lots of things in a 335 that causes that. Again, someone gets 5 hpfps, does anyone really believe that all 5 hpfps were bad? Of course not. Something in the vehicle itself caused a good hpfp to fail. Like when a fuse blows. The hpfp is the fuse in the analogy. |

Who the hell runs 89 RON FFS. UK standard is 95 ron and we have no Ethanol is most fuel and the max is 5%, our HPFP failures are much lower than the US. Try running your 335i on Shell V Power and see if a brand new HPFP dies? Who trys and runs a high performance sports engines on BBQ fuel anyway |

Just hit 40k miles on my '08 e92 335i with my original HPFP when it crapped out on a long trip down to North Carolina. I was keeping my fingers crossed that my car would be immune from failure, but no such luck.
Brought it into BMW of Asheville, NC - they replaced it with part # 446. Hoping this lasts at least as long as the original!

HPFP Update
Hi guys, I thought I'd add to the database even though my HPFP didn't fail :
I bought my car 6 months ago at 12k (2009 335i man) with it's original HPFP. I recently went in for service (brake oil) and they changed the HPFP under the recall event though it had not failed nor given any failure symptoms. The car is currently at 18k. On the bill I see that they installed a #446. Not sure if I read this right, but it seems like the car already had a #446 to begin with. They didn't change any spark plugs or injectors at all. I'm in Canada btw. |

Fuel pump recall fix installed and am delighted
I just got my car back a few days ago from its 40K service, and the following items were done:
1. replaced the fuel pump per the recall (although the old, original one was working fine) 2. reflashed the core software followed by re-applying my Dinan stage 1 3. replaced the spark plugs and injectors 4. new brake fluid 5. oil & air filter change 6. various other miscellaneous items I got the car back and, wow, it drives great! I didn't think there was anything wrong with it before, but it's running much better now (more power and smoother). Unlike some of the other posts, I've no complaints regarding these updates. Not sure what the main factor driving the improvement was; it's probably just the combination of all of them together. |

so i have a UK import late 2009 model. We sell lots of bmw's here in Trinidad through a local bmw dealer. Would the hpfp warranty cover the hpfp even though the car is an import? The way i understand the warranty is that its transfers through the owners and is up to the 120k miles or 10 years right? Anyone had this similar situation? i dont mind paying the dealer the installation costs but cannot be paying for pumps all the time!!

Understand that this is fully resolved now which is why I have do not see any posts on this for 2009+ 335's. Is this true?

As far as I can tell, new software levels have helped **some**, but do not prevent the failure. |

Just bought a 2007 335i coupe 7/27/11 with 28,500 miles on it. I researched the car and spoke to a Bimmer-head friend before buying and learned of the HPFP and injector issues. I had the VIN checked and the recall had not been performed, so I dropped it at the dealership on Monday, 8/1/11.
I still do not have the car back. While picking the car up on Tuesday evening, the valet discovered the A/C was not blowing. It was working fine before the recall was performed. The service adviser called Wednesday to say they had checked everything and the blower failure had nothing to do with the HPFP replacement. I have the dealership I bought from working with the BMW dealership and is paying the diagnostic fee. 1) How does a 28,500 mile old blower system fail? The adviser explained it away as, "just one of those things". 2) Since the blower WAS working when I dropped the car for service, the car was serviced, and now the blower system does not work in 110F Texas heat shouldn't the BMW dealership assume responsibility? 3) I now have a negative feel for this car, and am researching this site for any sign of systemic and chronic problems, other than the HPFP, with this vehicle. 4) Has anyone else had vent blower/A/C system failure and if so, what was the cause? |
