Not really a surprising result, NA tunes such as this do not bring about any meaningful gains and I love how they spouted all this bullshit about Germany like they're trying to shift the blame. Truth is, you cornered them with the dyno charts and they have no choice but to refund the money lest they want to break the law.

What makes it bad is that most people wouldn't bother with a dyno and would take City Performance's word for it. The placebo effect is quite powerful, once you've laid down 1600 of your hard earned, you're gonna want to feel something.

Apparently there is a glitch which they cannot identify and have put it back to the tuner in Germany to work out. If they have a solution in the near future i'll probably give it another go but for now I got a full refund on the $1595 which wasn't any issues at all for them which is quite nice to know that they would honour their claim of 31kw or my money back.
That's not good.
Now, I'm thinking to dyno my car.

I highly suggest you do. Anyone that claims that much gains from an BMW NA engine is talking through their ass.

The gains are possible as the 323 shares the same engine as 325 - just different software. same as 125 & 130 (at least on paper).

So, what's the problem ? 3-stage intake manifold installed with a proper ECU tune should make a 323i to become 325i. But even AA can't tune a US 325i to 330i.... only BMW can did so....so weird.

Everyone keeps mentioning the 3 stage intake issue but I've never seen a dyno-backed 323i making 325i power, or a 125i making 130i power.

On Aus spec cars all N52 engines have the 3 stage intake manifold.

Someone needs to properly crack the DME and see what's going on.

I'm looking into it

Would be great to get

a) 125i -> 130i power
b) 323i -> 325i power

Just an update on this,

we successfully flashed a 323i last weekend and the customer has let me know that his butt dyno says the car is pulling a bit harder/stronger. Whether it's close to that of a 325i, we'll have to see.

We didn't do a baseline dyno but on the dyno we will be using I know what a stock 323i and a stock 325i will do.

Will keep you posted and if anyone else is interested in a tune for their BMW (whether N52 or N54) please let me know via pm/email.

So is there any new update on dyno ?
After proper tuning, 323i should generate more torque/power than stock 325i.
Hope you can find the way.

We did the dyno with a conservative tune, not sure why I bothered with this though as the dyno showed barely any gain, although from the customer's feedback he has said it feels more responsive.

I'm looking to try this again when the customer returns from overseas and we both have time. I have another file prepared for the second dyno run, which is still within the safe operating limits but it is more aggressive. Again, 100% safe. Then we can run logs on it to double check everything.

I'm not sure if it'll make as much power as a 325i to be honest, but would be good to get close.

Cheers,
Stuart @ BMR

I did another ECU flash before, but I don't have any before/after dyno.
The 0-100 real test result (new vs stock) doesn't show much difference, but I can feel better throttle response and rev increase smoothly and faster.
So if possbile, could you test the 0-100km or 0-400 result which is a easy way to understand the difference.
A better drive response and power/torque curve for gear shift should make this car faster even the dyno result is not too different.
Anyway, thank you for your trying and hope to wait your good news.

If my customer is willing, sure I will see what the 0-100 time is for the car

Superimposing the before/after dynos is much better than a 0-100.....
