Oil top up

I have a 2010 328i Xdrive e90 and my Idrive shows my oil level is half. Car has 13,500 kms.

Should I top up? Idrive says engine oil level OK but I am going for a long drive and dont want to get stranded. Not sure if the first oil is break in oil.

Yea I would just do an oil change before you go on the trip since you are still on the break in oil.

Yea it is the same oil.

The reason why we say change it is mostly because the oil may have some metallic pieces (small shavings) from breaking in the engine.

Keep in mind that the graphic you see on your screen is not actually max to min of the total oil in your vehicle. When you reach the min level you are only down 1 liter of oil. It's just a display to show top up levels.

You are fine.

Yes, top it up, been thru 5 bimmers and all of them needs top up before that first service. out of 5 times I got 3 times topped up for free, it really depends which rep you are talking to...the first 2 times i'm talking to just anybody but the last 3 I start talking to the same rep and she kinda reconize me.
If it's not free just walk to the parts desk and buy 1 for like 20 bucks.

You don't need to top it up until it reaches the minimum level and the warning goes off. As another poster mentioned even when it reaches the minimum level it is only down about 1 quart.
