Ha ha! The way I see it, it can go two ways, after the wedding, I mean

Either Leen will let you loose to do all the events you want, or july and august will also be up in the air, he he!

Hey guys,

I would like to attend some of those events as a photographer. Do you know if all these require media passes of any kind or I should just show up and ask somebody to talk to?

I would appreciate knowing what to expect since I will have to drive a couple hours to get to most of those events.

Most tracks use a dedicated photo guy. LCMT, The Glen and Calabogie is like that.

I'm looking up some dates now. I'm in for a 2 day at VIR if we can find a good time slot. I'll be the slow poke ... I have to pull my car to our destinations now. I guess the up side is I can sleep in my trailer (??)?

So if you're not that guy, you basically just have access to the stands right? Even if you dont sell anything?

Sad; I was going to offer free pictures to the guy that could get me access to the Quebec events. I dont want to get any money out of this; I just need the practice and the shots that will come out of it.

At LCMT, you could take pictures in the public access areas (which is near and around the start/finish - paddock area). But you won't be able to access the infield. The track has its dedicated photographer.

Dedicated photog usually charges a lot PER pic because the event promoter gets a share.

Oh well; for Quebec guys, if you see something in St-Eustache, Sanair, Mirabel, etc; just hit me up!

you have to try and go for one of the tremblant events ... its by far the best track in quebec, totally different from ASE, sanair and ICAR

I love tremblant. I go there at least once every summer for the last 5 years. (Paintball competition).

I am not a photographer, but I walked around tracks (beyond the stands) on Mostport and Watkins Glen with a professional camera during BMW club and Phoenix events, and no one said anything to me. Not sure if that's the same for LCMT. Of course, I'd recommend asking permission first if you are planning to use photos commercially.

I share your point of view. I'm not a pro; I do it for fun.

I wouldnt mind going and trying if I would live close to those tracks; but its always at least a couple hours away. I just dont want to cover gas money to be stuck in the stands to take pictures as a spectator.

I know I wont get access to some parts of the track; like the center of the track, for insurance purposes, but i'm pretty sure there's some nice spots that can give amazing shots without puttingbeing a concern for the track owners or event promoters.

I'm supposed to cover 5 of the 7 DMCC events this summer and would love to cover some lapping events also.

smaller tracks like ICAR and ASE should be a little more relaxed when it comes to taking photos. i had a friend take a bunch of action shots of my car over at ICAR last summer and the pit guys didn't say anything. tracks like tremblant are a different story because they have to protect their contract with their resident photographer.
