BMW has played tricks on us. We would think that the PE exhaust would be very different, however it's essentially identical with 3 very small differences that change sound critically.

Also I use to run a recording studio so sound is key, and the way sound waves move and the length of piping are critical. Too much or little of anything makes bad results. I have over 60 hours this week invested.

Drone is low to mid frequencies. Typically in the 200-500 hz range.

Those frequencies are usually between 1800-2200 rpms on almost all cars, actually all cars.

Rasp is actually caused not enough back pressure and no toning with proper pipes.

The wife was very lonely this week however I have made it worth it.

More videos to come this weekend. Maybe one tomorrow in the afternoon.

Here is 2 videos. One cold startup with the flap open and then I close it. Then second video shows the sound of the exhaust even more. I didnt want to get too loud as I would be too loud for the neighbors.

Let me know what you guys think. This exhaust is quiet on the highway and cruise.

Drive By 1st and 2nd gear:

Here is a Cold Start and Rev:

Enjoy!

Sounds perfect!

If you could post exactly what you did to make this that would be amazing because it sounds spot on!

I noticed your an e90. Did you remove the rear resonators as the OEM e90 PE does. I am very excited to see what you have done as I am in the market for exhaust.

Traded my car in for a 1 series and the dealer doesn't want the is exhaust from my e90 so there gunna remove it and put the stock mufflers back on before selling the car. So if anyone wants a lightly used set of 335is mufflers let me know. Probably won't have them for a week or so.

Search my username or go back a few pages and you can see a video I posted of the is exhaust.

Does that include x-pipe as well? I love the pop and gurgle your setup had.. thinking it's mostly due to the x-pipe..

No, x pipe is staying on the car. Can be bought on jegs for an extra $100 or if you have an e92 you already have one. Tips were not shortened either so e92 fitment will be spot on or will stick out an extra inch or so unless you have the muffler shop modify them for an e90.

This is silly... Either you have something to contribute to this thread as to how you did it, or GTFO. I got no patience!

I do agree that it does sound like the PE. I hope you come back and tell us your recipe and not disappear like some other members have in the past!

+1 but a perforated straight pipe welded in the mufflers.
Making the stock mufflers act like a large resonator.
Just my guess

Another one has been compromised boys. Squirrel thinks the BMW agents got to him once they learned he was going to tell the secrets of the holy PE Exhaust. Solving the PE riddle is like the Da Vinci Code!
