$1420 for another 40rwhp

The recession does have its advantages.

On the 2 group buys, I'm getting

the Helix FMIC kit revised version, and its one of the top ICs for $799 and

the AR Design catless DP, one of the top DPs and its 3" all the way for $619

TOTAL is $1420 for maybe another 40rwhp with the JB3.

Nice. Very happy. Just expressing my enthusiasm for the car and the value of these high quality bolt-ons.

WHAT A DEAL !!

Yeah it was just too good to pass these GBs up.

Only 7800 miles on the car and I was going to wait on these due to the PITA warranty issue but this deal put me over the edge.

Hoping for 0-60 in 3.9s.

Have fun with your purchases.

I noticed the group buy was going to expire when it reached 60. Did Obama slip in some kind of limitation on how much business a company can do?

i really want DPs but have heard that dealerships will give you alotta shit for it.. and it's not like a tune where u can put on and take off very easily. for those with dps, what do u do when u go into dealerships? do they give u shit or void warranties? emission is another issue but oh well, lol.. i'll figure something out later on

Thinking about buying both myself ... I'll leave the intercooler in for service as I doubt they give two craps about that but downpipes would certainly have to come out.

HPFP's die in these cars like crazy .. I don't want them to try to blame it on downpipes when they know damn well their HPFP's suck anus.

i left the downpipes in for everything so far

when flash tuning becomes more popular that wont be a problem though

We need a VK Oil Cooler Group Buy running highly tuned cars require one to give the engine a little break by running cooler.

Downpipes will kill your warranty just as much as a tune will.

I have been using the Helix IC for a few months...great product. I am also on the GB for the AR DP's....I can't wait. Since I live in Denver I am planning on having Andrew perform the XI DP install. The AR DP's will be mated to an Autobahn Exotics hi-flow cat system. Already have JB3/BMS DCI. Can't wait to bring it all together.

They can only void the warranty associated with the components in question. It really would be a stretch if they tried to void a warranty on the HPFP because you have aftermarket downpipes or a FMIC when there is clear indication these fail on completely stock cars. Tune is another issue as that could alter the signal to the fuel pump.

Not true at all - and it bugs me when people say this. They can do whatever the hell they want. They can and most likely will void/deny your warranty claim on items such as a HPFP due to downpipes. It's up to you to then go and prove them wrong by getting a lawyer and let it sit in the court system.

My dealer basically told me that anything that you do to change the performance of the engine could be linked to an engine part failure. I agree with this since it is certainly possible that this can happen. Maybe it's not likely, but it can happen and since it can happen that will be the argument that they will take. I don't blame them for this. They are just trying to save some money on service calls.

As for me with the warranty issue, having only 7800 miles on the car now, this is my freaking car, not theirs and if I want to modify the engine then I will damit. If I have a warranty related issue in the future then I'll deal with it when it happens. For now, I am going to enjoy creating a beast. That is why I bought this freaking car.

I agree with you, jealous of your upgrades. 3.9s will be tough though!

Same here! Looking at BMW Performance Suspension kit, from Tischer, since it is comparable to KW or other vendor coilover costs.

Bolt ons that take more than 30 minutes to remove are going to wait until the warranty is up in about 2 years.

I'm totally with you Zippy, I'm also on the same GB's and have 10K on the clock and couldn't pass it up. I'll deal with a warranty issue if it comes up......which is up in 2011 anyway, 4yrs/50K miles which ever comes first right. The fun that I'll be having in the next few years outweighs the likely hood that it will come up in the next 2 years. Unless I want to go for the extended and pay more, but I've owned a few beemers that had between 30K-90K miles and never had any problems besides normal maintenance, brakes, belts, hoses, normal wear and tear items. This sucker is turbo so I know there are more parts that can go, but you'd be waiting forever for the warranty to end.

I think BMW should still replace HPFP's up to 100k miles anyway as it is a known confirmed problem which is NO fault of the owner. I believe they covered the 2001-2003 e46 M3 motors up to 100K miles because there was a known problem with the crank caps cracking or bearings going.

Well there's a Group Buy for the AR Design oil cooler going on (until Saturday).

Great product if you ask me. I'm in on it as well as I have concerns about the durability of the engine without it while running a tune.
