Hi guys, I am looking for rims for the coming summer. BBS RGR 18" looks the best so far, and I see different widths of 8, 8.5, and 9.5.

I guess the wider, the safer but more gas consumption. What size do you guys prefer? For me, all 18x8 seems to be okay.

Why do some of you guys use different sizes for the front and rear? such as 18x8.5 for the front and 18x9.5 for the rear? Is there any performance advantage or just looks cool?

and is it okay to use different sizes for the front and rear if it comes to xDrive?

Wider wheels in the back give the car a more aggressive stance and keeps the rear wheels from looking too "tucked" under the fender. Honestly I think that 18x8 is a little thin for a 3 series, I would go at least 18x8.5. Running different sizes front and back on an xDrive is fine as long as the rolling diameter difference of the front and rear tires is less than 1%.

and how much is gas mileage difference between running 18" and 19"? Specially concerning 328xi's worst gas mileage among 3 series, does it show visible difference?

There is really no other benefit. Some say that it improves handling but I don't think it would be that noticeable. If you drive the car hard, it may introduce a bit of understeer.

I moved from 16" to 18" and haven't noticed any adverse affects on gas mileage. Moving from run-flat tires to non-runflat tires will actually improve gas mileage as they weigh significantly less (28 pounds compared to 22) and greatly reduce unsprung weight. You'll notice an increase in acceleration as a result as well.

im running 18 inch bbs rgr 18x8 in the front and 18.9.5.... i must say the cars handling is much improved. i dont really notice any understeer at all....and out of the hole like you said is so much butter with the weight loss

hey guys ive been hearing that since i have an xi coupe aka the all wheel drive that i cant use a staggered setup or else i'll do some serious damage to my suspension/drivetrain or something like that, any further info?

you can go staggered NO problem i have x drive and i have and 18x8 and 18x9.5 runs GREAT
