Actually protected my stock IC from getting busted by debris on the highway. Some small pvc pipe was stuck in my mesh grill. Good thing it didn't penetrate all the way through.

it would protect it against some larger objects but the holes in the mesh would not stop the smaller ones that would get through and lodge themselves into the fins. Its part of a front mount unfortunately. You can put a tight mesh in there but that can actually restrict airflow to the core.

I opted for no mesh, free air flow, a mean look and having to take the IC off maybe once a year to clean it out and straighten the fins

It protected a bird from hitting my FMIC on my evo. Looked like my car ate it.

The core will fit just fine with the mesh. I just wanted it off to show off the core and get slightly better airflow on my car.

Hey Eric, don't mean to hijack the thread, but does AMS have anything in the works to provide a Rear LSD solution for us welded folks? I am in Chicago, have an EVO with many AMS parts on it and would take the 335i to you guys in a heartbeat. Just curious if you guys might be doing a Birds UK like service where you don't need to replace the entire pumpkin.

The end tanks are by far the freest flowing and best designed on the market currently. The casting really allows us to smooth all transitions. Also the inlet and outlet are 3", larger than any other units I have seen. In addition our core is better than a spearco. We have tested similar sized spearco cores to what we use here and we always get better results with our units.

Currently I have the only sample unit on my car. We are getting a tuning solution locked down right now so we can get you guys a nice accurate and informative test for the IC. production units are still not due to release until mid to late july.

Honestly that looks like a pretty good unit at a fair price LSD's are not cheap. I would honestly just consider going that route from HP autowerks. TBH I think I might contact them for one for our car.

If you have a bolted diff (opposed to welded), you can just buy the LSD (w/o the final drive unti) for about $1500. Took me a while to find a place to install one, but I found one!

True but if you do not there in is the problem. You would need to weld the LSD...not sure how I feel about that. I would imagine HP is simply selling you the diff with a new final drive already bolted to it....hence the increase in price. This would be the proper way to do it. I will have to look into this a little more as our car desperately needs an LSD.

I got excited on 10-9-2008 when AMS introduced themselves on here and talked about N54 plans. LOL you guys are killing me... everything has been "almost done" for a few months now. Maybe you should have waited until everything was done to even introduce yourselves lol. Tick tock
