Visit from Scandinavia
Hi Guys
I'm a member of the official BMW-club in Denmark, Scandinavia and we have arranged a trip to the US in september this year We are 20 members that are going to visit the factory i Spartanburg and will be visiting other sites in that area. We have a day or 2 on our own and I wondered if there were any sites you could recomend we should visit when we are there. We already have some arrangements going down the Blue Ridge Parkway, seeing parts of the burbon trail, driving on the Tail of the dragon and going to visit Bristol Motor Speedway. We also have plans of visiting BMW Zentrum and visit the BMW Performance Center. Are there any well known tuners or special dealers in the area that we should try arranging a visit at? Or some other great places worth visting for us scandinavian bimmerboys?

I live in NC in the Charlotte area and Ive driven the Blue Ridge Pkwy many times, and ridden down the tail of the Dragon, god is that a ride. Ive also done the Spartanburg tour a couple times. Needless to say, you wont be let down at all! I see youre going to Bristol MS, (again, been there many times for NASCAR races, love it) so if you happen to have any interest in NASCAR the Hall of Fame is in Charlotte NC and I would recommend a stop there if that is of any interest to yall.

Charlotte Motor Speedway has the Zmax dragway right next to it which is a 4 lane wide dragstrip, thats something that may be pretty cool to check out too.

In regards to tuners, we dont really have any in this region. Best tuner shops for the n54 platform are found in Cali and Florida....probably Chicago and some in the northeast. Southeast(mainly NC, SC, TN, GA) dont really have any cool shops to visit lol

Hi Guys
Thnx :-) Sorry to hear there are no cool tuners in that area. We just have to find other Car related sites to visit :-)

Road Atlanta raceway has some interesting events. Usually the Peachtree chapter of the BMWCCA will be out there.
Unfortunately Petit Le Mans wont run until October. |

If you haven't watched the Top Gear featuring the Blue Ridge Parkway, then be prepared: the speed limits are very low. But the views are spectacular.
I've done the BMW driving program at Spartanburg several times and it is an absolute blast! |

Yea, I remember that episode of Top Gear.
We are not going to race it. The cars we rent will be SUV's and I do not expect them to be race cars ;-)
