Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!

1623 miles, and I've now got "curb rash" on my right rear wheel. DANG IT!! I was coming around a notorious corner for bad driving. The way the turn is setup, the cars heading westbound can turn northbound in a "free right turn" lane with no yield. Cars heading eastbound turn left into their own dedicated lane, and aren't supposed to cross over. There are two lanes heading north at this point. The problem is there is no divider curb to prevent those coming from the eastbound direction to move immediately into the right hand lane (the free right turn lane.)

But you guessed it, damn near every idiot turning left moves over to the right lane right away, instead of maintaining the left lane. They do this to make the very first turn into a strip mall (for Starbucks.) There is another entrance further down, but these damn caffeine junkies can't wait.

So I'm coming around this corning from the westbound side, and I notice some joker is coming right into my lane from the eastbound left turn side. So I'm focusing on Mr. Idiot, slowing down and turning slightly right to avoid him. Well, I hadn't quite made the straight-away, so I bumped the curb with my right rear wheel. Resulting curb rash is about a solid 12" around the lip.

At least I've got the number for wheel repair guy. The dealer gave me his card when I took delivery. It's the same guy they use for their trade-ins. So I'll give him a call and see how much this is going to set-back my pocket book.

The first scratch is always the hardest.....

Damn that sucks, Im assuming its a stock wheel.......meaning the repair isnt easy like a wheel with a polished lip. If you had a wheel with polished lips you could just go get it hand sanded down then buffed to perfection. Im horrified at the idea of curb rash now that I have chrome lips and not polished lips anymore. Theres a DIY on the forum to fix this.....though I would probably take it in to a professional too if i was you (I just dont have enough experience with paint). But hey if your going to get aftermarket wheels soon then forget about it.

Yeah, stock 162's. I'm not planning on new wheels any time soon, so I'll need to get it fixed. As for the DIY, I've read it, but I also tend to be too impatient to do a great job when it comes to painting.

I feel your pain, I just did this too coming out of one of the tiny bays at the bank drive through. My right rear 162 has a rash on it about 4 in. long. Only the second wheel I have ever curbed. What really sucks is the car is getting traded on an E92 in about 2 months so they will probably ding me for a new wheel on trade. Let us know if you got yours fixed successfully or not, I might try to do that before trade-in if so.

Those mobile dent repair guys sometimes do wheel repair too. They got the whole paint matching setup.
