Everyone remember to reset your MPG gauge every time you fill up your tank. I know my mpg was showing 24 mpg for a while because I initially had done a lot of city driving on the first few tanks. I was wondering why my overall mpg hadn't improved when I was driving on the hightway, and then I realized that the gauge in the car takes an average since the last time you reset it.

As for the mileage; we're at about 1000kms and we're getting between 450-500kms per tank so far. We've been told to expect much better once break-in is over. |

Using 93 octane, I was first getting just over 24 mpg with the car, doing mostly highway driving at around 65 mph. After 1300 miles, I am now getting 27.3 mpg doing 75-80 on the highway. I'm quite pleased. We get 22-24 mpg in our 200 hp V6 Accord, and that was my original expectation for this car. Not bad for a car with 255 hp. I like the analog mpg gauge because it really gives you insight as to what road conditions and driver behavior brings the fuel mileage down.

gas mileage
I just returned from a 1,500 mile trip through Colorado, including a trip up Pikes Peak at 14,110 feet, all in second and third gear (330i, automatic, using the manual shift option) up the mountain and back down, traveling through mountains and probably about 50% total on flat surfaces and for the entire roundtrip from Amarillo to several places in Colorado, including Durango, Silverton, Canon City, Pueblo, Trinidad and Colorado Springs, I averaged 32 mpg. During this time, most of which was break-in miles as the car was just a few days old when we left, I drove it from about 60 mph all the way up to 95 mph a couple of times. I think the gas mileage was very good and will get a little bit better. I did notice that the mileage sign posts were a little off from my odeometer by about 2% in the wrong direction, which equates to 2,000 miles in 100,000 miles thus reducing my warranty miles from 50k to 49k. Not a lot, but still  maybe as the tires wear, this will even out
