My only issue so far (but this may not be decisive for people in the US) is that the speed limiter has not been deactivated. But GIAC should be working on that as well, so it may be fixed with the next iteration of their software.
Otherwise the flash is great, incredibly powerful, smooth and lots of fun to drive. Alpina_B3_Lux

I have 4 months until my warranty is up...I am waiting for that "Stage 1+" from GIAC because I am afraid Stage 2 puts too much strain on the engine and I need it to work a long time Is "Stage 1+" available by now or was it just a rumor ?

just contact your closest dealer and get your ECU read out. Since you are stock you should get Stage 1.

I have had zero problems with the tune. It is fantastic!
I have gone through Dinan Stage 2, Procede V3, JB3 1.4 and finally the GIAC Stage 1 then Stage 2 and I wished I would have just waited for GIAC. Search for my reviews, comparisons and Dynos. |

Been running Stage 1 for almost a year now - nothing but perfect - no issues what so ever and the power curve is awesome - like noted above, just like stock only more of it!

Running a Stg 1 GIAC flash now, had it for only 600 miles (my car isn't a daily driver) but the power is awesome and reallllly consistant! I am going to post a write up with Dyno's comparison's soon. The car feels stock but way faster, no codes, no hiccups, consistant power everytime, everywhere. I couldn't be happier...
What is this GIAC Stg 1+ your talking about???

Awesome flash. Consistent, smooth, and powerful.
As a side question, the stage 1 flash recommends an exhaust. Are any of you stage 1 guys running an exhaust? If so, what sort of gains might I expect if I just add some midpipes and an axleback? Thanks. |

stage 1 is for stock car so no need for an exhaust . even if you put midpipes without cats and mufflers the gains would be minimal.

Had the Stage 1 for more then a year now, with numerous dealer visits. Zero problems, just very consistent power. Soon to be Stage 1+.

When flash was first released it was around $800, now it's close to a grand in a place I purchased it. You're price is around there.

$800 for the flash itself and then you pay labor - typically most places will charge either a half hour or one hour for the install - it took mine about 2.5 hours to load, but obviously they are not actually doing anything most of that time hence the reduced labor price. My labor was $50 for a half hour of labor - $850 total.

I got up to 155 and it felt like something was happeneing to my engine, so I tried it again and logged it and boost dropped right when I hit 155 and throttle closed as well. As far as everything else, it's the best tune I've ran. It isn't as smooth as stock; it's smoother than stock. I've been to Laguna Seca two times with this tune and never had any sort of limp mode or CEL. The entire time I've had the flash, I have never experienced any limp mode or CEL. The sad thing is that limp modes and CELs seem to be considered a normal thing on this forum since so many have had them.

I'm running stage 2+, but the only reason why I'm able to use the 2+ is because of the methanol. There is actually a big difference between 2 and 2+.

I have had the GIAC stage 1 flash for several months and I paid about $800.00 installed which I consider inexpensive compared to what you get from the piggybacks. My only concern is that GIAC service is so-so. Nothing can compare to Terry's service at BMS.
