If you keep revs above 4500rpm and run on race gas, you can certainly work around its issues/shortcomings.

Shiv, Do you think you can implement a feature in your next release that allows your software to datalog REAL BOOST (with a boost sensor)? I think it's very important for us with piggyback to be able to datalog real boost... and would it be possible that people with iDrive can take the advantages of their big LCD display... so we can see all the information (including error codes, real boost, current map... ect) on thier LCD display?

I think you should 100% go the digital readout instead of the needle if possible. It will be less confusing for sure

As well as a visible on-dash indication of what map # is currently active.

Just about every other suggestion posted in this thread is possible. Including displaying boost in the calculated mpg display on the dash. Personally, I've always like needle displays (which is why I suggested the dual display oil temp gauge). But if you guys are okay with a digital boost display, we can go with it

You can log real boost (IC pipe pressure) with the PROcede software. Or by "real boost", do you mean manifold pressure/vacuum?

are you implying that just the basic functions of clearing codes will be free but all the other future additions like boost gauge on the digital MPG display will cost money? Maybe I am reading it incorrectly, but if you can clarify what you meant by free, that would be helpful.

Thanks

he means you don't have to buy the BT software/cable to clear the codes. He wants to just get that functionality in the first release then the rest will follow

Nope. I wasn't implying that. I was just saying that I wanted to get something out right away that provided the function that people needed. We will add more functions as time goes by of course. That's only natural since we now, for the first time, have integration with the factory DME/dash. I don't expect to charge anything for the additional features as they come in either.

digital is my choice. I would probably de-install the gauge I currently have just to clean up the dash. And I wouldn't have to take the gauge off for BMW service, which is a currently little tedious. I just don't want to argue over non-Procede related repairs (though I've had none).

Ok... digital it is. What's cool is that we may even be able to get it to read more than just boost and mpg. We could have it display things like ignition advance, throttle angle, fuel trim, etc,. The user could set-up the display option with the PROcede user software or by some type of user input (throttle pressing, button on the dash, remote fob, etc,.)

It looks like upgrading from REV1 to REVII could be a cheap alternative to buying a boost guage, among other things. This all seems very cool.

would a peak recall be possible with the boost gauge?

He means to use an extra analog input on the PROcede to hook up to a boost sensor like what my gauge has so that you can measure the REAL boost which the engine is seeing, after the throttle plate (manifold pressure/vacuum).

As we all know reading intercooler pipe pressure can be confusing if people don't understand why its not the same as intake manifold pressure. Its nice to have a boost reading that you know its actually what the engine is seeing.

A prime example is when the ECU uses throttle closure to control boost spikes, my boost reading will show boosts dip or stay solid while the throttle closes, but the PROcede reader shows boost spike in the intercooler pipe (because the wastegates remain closed building boost, but the throttle slams the door on the airflow, causing it to build up in the intercooler pipe)

I think digital would be much more future proof and if/when any updates arise, it should be pretty easy to implement. I was hoping for something along the lines of a GT-R display. I love how they display everything a racing enthusiast needs. Also what about some M-like features. Kind of like the m-drive screen which sets many other modes(Launch Control Baby)

If you can make boost show up on the digital display, I will upgrade to a revII for sure. Great updates

This is awesome! Now I'm really going to be counting the days til mine arrives - too cool!

Shiv - I'm curious - will the CANbus features work on ALL e90/e92s? IIRC before march of 07 they had the k-line bus, not sure whether canbus was present too.

that would be "bad ass"

all joking aside, how about a race mode? can you make it so that it would switch the map, turn on the boost gauge, and then turn dtc off. now that would be something. maybe even throw in launch control.

i cant wait my REVII gets here tomorrow.
