Surely these deals must come direct from, and be heavily subsidised by, Mercedes UK, if that is the case why don't the Merc main dealers offer similar deals? Their 'offers' on the MB website, even business orientated ones, don't come close to matching those from certain lease companies.

Is it likely these days will only get better through next year?

I'm a lease newbie. What does 3+11 or 6+11 mean?

3+11 and 6+11 are both 12 month deals.

'x'+11 means payment one equates to 'x' times the normal monthly payment.

So, if you're leasing at £200/month on a 3+11 basis payment one is £600 and payments 2 through to 12 are £200, total cost of lease is £2,800.00

Given 'x' is always payment one you can calculate the length of the lease (in months) by adding one to the number listed after 'x' (payments subsequent to initial payment).

Can't see the deals getting any worse, next year is predicted to be an even worse year for car sales and luxury vehicles suffer the most.

So inc VAT your are looking at £6800, or £560/month equivalent to drive around in a brand new £50k Merc.

This seems pretty cheap motoring.

Is there anyway a private buyer could do this? Can you somehow pretend to be a business user with the lease company? Or does this get difficult for tax reasons - is any car subject to BIK type tax, or is this a separate issue?

Any chance you could get such a deal on say a loaded E350 Cabrio?

EDIT Little engine, but this is just £420/month, hmmm....

SLK200 AMG SPORT Edition 125 2dr Automatic + leather + heated seats + Airscarf
1 year contract 3+11/10,000 miles from £299 including vat

Plus -

E220CDi SPORT Edition 125 Man

Sorry - sold out

Personal leasing
£418.80 including vat
3 Years 3+35/10kpa
Business leasing
£349.00+vat

Most available to private punters James just add the VAT. That SLK deal, or one very similar, is the subject of another thread - serious VFM.

As are all the new BMWs.

The CLS feels more planted and dynamic than the new 5 series.

Crikey - so as a private punter I just pay £900 upfront, then £300/month, and I can swan around in a new SLK? Is £900 the only deposit?

Lack of cylinders/grunt and hairdressing banter aside - what is the catch?!?!?

The E coupes/cabrios all seem to be on 3 yr only or sold out - is this likely to be a general thing or could other brokers offer solutions?

This is all new to me - so any links appreciated.

I'll post details of my invoice at some point this week, but I'm being invoiced around 41k for a 52k motor, with a final balloon of £36600.

This particular deal is on a personal pop scheme, so you can't claim half of the vat back if you were putting through a business.

Martyn at Pantheon has been great, no hard selling and answers emails out of hours too.

Did we not have the same situation a few years ago with BMW?

I recall when I bought my 335D, I managed to get almost 15% off list and still get a awesome lease deal as well. Indeed in late 2007 you could not move for new E90/1/2/3s on the road.

Not long after, BMW stepped in and the heavy discounting was stopped.

Wonder if we will see the same response from MB although as they have just had their best sales quarter in history, who knows?

Try walking into a showroom rather than just looking online at the official MB website. The deals are there.

Go and test drive a new 5 (not the M5) and please tell us.

I have test driven a 530D and 535D and cannot believe these things have a BMW badge on the front. Certainly not the ultimate driving machine (unless you don't drive round corners)

Dont wish to hijack thread, cos i'll be doing my own very soon, but from first hand experience, the MB dealers cant get anywhere near the lease deals and are very frustrated by 'Corporate sales' dumping stock via the lease companies. I too, am moving to the dark side

That's what I found too, even though I'm actually buying his car from Mercedes Benz south west.

By the way, what have you gone for?

No!

But you don't need to believe me. Go to your local dealer and drive one for yourself and report back.

There are people on here who have actually bought them and then sold them. They are really disappointing.

But the real concern is that they do the same with the new 3. If they do, then when my new MB is ready for a change, I may not return to BMW.

when you lease, can you still spec the car up how you want?

Yup. Although the lease costs for a car with lots of toys will be considerably higher; the reason being that most finance companies don't give the full RV for extras, meaning you actually pay for them over the duration of your lease (less what value they do give).

So, if you go nuts and spunk £5k on extras that add little or nothing to RV then that cost all be added to the basic cost of the car.
