Hey - I run a different auto forum (but I'm an M3 guy now) and we've recently had some sponsors selling cheap knockoffs of competing products (FMICs, etc). I wondered what other forums do, as I imagine it's a bigger problem for more popular cars.

I'd imagine respectable forums would tell these sponsors to clean up there act and if they don't.....tell them to beat it.

of all the forums that I am on, BMW forums seems to appreciate knock offs the most flame away

Real deal or nothing is my opinion. I dont buy knock off anything. I dont mind people who do but dont act like they are the real deal.
