I have a HUGE oil leak
Huge oil leak resulting from a cracked valve cover. Dealer quoted me $1390 for the job, can this job be done well at a local shop or should I have it done at the dealership?

There's a DIY floating around. $1000+ is typical for a dealer. There are several independent shops that can do this. It's a common problem with all bimmers so a shop with experience fixing BMWs shouldn't find it too difficult. You should be able to find a cheaper price.

driving the car to get oil change, car shuts down. WOn't start for the last 3 days. Service engine light and engine oil pan light thing were on at the time. Also while the car was running and I was at a light with foot on the brake the car would start shaking coming from the front of the car (engine) and the engine was sputtering as if it was going to shut off by itself until it finally did. ALMOST EVERY MONTH FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP WTF!!!!

BMWLove86 - hope you get things sorted out without a five figure repair bill, I've seen your other thread regarding the other issues leading up to the situation.
For others reading: if you have a "huge oil leak" it's best to stop driving the car until you get it fixed. |

I did oil change, dealer told me I could still drive the car until I get the leak fixed. Well that was a lie
