Honda Civic Type R UK version

Went to test drive a civic type R yesterday. 200bhp...Though that it would be fast, but was really disappointed. Didn't even feel the vtec point cross over...no torque at all!!!.....only felt a bit fast when i was in the 7000-8000 rpm range....but manual gearbox is awesome!!!....so much control!!!...I miss a manual gearbox....the 335i would be lethal with a manual gearbox!!!!

you can, in my opinion, it's a little bit of a handful though, my brain can only spare so much capacity from trying not to hit stuff in front of me to remember to change smoothly, but then I'm no shumy, G33's car was INSANE with a manual.. even more brutal to drive than mine I'm sure

Bet it only had normal fuel in - these NEED 98 RON or higher for the VTEC to work properly - I had a Celica T-sport and with low octane unleaded, could not feel the VVTLI kick in at all. Tight wad dealer lol!

Compared to the 335i tho, not surprised it didn't feel that quick - lack of low rev torque is the main problem

The Civic Type R is slow as hell and woefully underpowered - i test drove it when it first came out and was bitterly disappointed. I had a standing start race with one from traffic lights when i had my 335i and left it for dead, i actually felt sorry for the guy!!! Did anyone see that traffic cops programme the other night where a Civic Type R left the road and landed on someones roof?? Guy walked away from the crash so at least it proves the safety features work on it!!

Great fun for a boyraver.

loved my Type R's both Accord and Civic's when I had them, and screaming that engine round to 8000 rpms always put a smile on my face, but I think I would feel the lack of low down torque now, after having the 330d

lol...yeah of course they can't compare to our BMWs, completly different league. Hoped they would "feel" fast at 200bhp! But the UK Civic didn't. Might go test drive some S2000 and Audi TT this wkend...

The last car really worthy of wearing the R badge was the integra as they really went to town on it - ie no insulation, thinner windscreen, no radio, no aircon etc! As raw as hell, but i loved mine and will one day buy another!

The Accord was a damned good motor as well - and seriously overlooked as the WRX stole its limelight massively. Quite a few good ones still out there is anyone wants a £4k Q-Car.

But Honda have seemed to get back on course again with the JDM civic type r - 4 doors and a stunning engine. Dont have a play with one of those on the twisties as it will really embarass you!

Been out in one for a testdrive (through lichfield) and was blown away ... if only Honda UK would import them.

Kev, why do you want to test drive cars that are no way near as quick as yours let alone as nice?

Audi TTS will jsut about hang onto a stock 335i, but it is no faster, ive driven one. Sounds lovely.

S5 is ever so slightly faster than a 335i in a straightline. Round Anglesey it was slower than a 335i. Tune the 335i and it walks the S5. Better and more stylish though is the interior of the Audi.

Type -R as you know are waste of time as are R32 golfs. Slow as you like.

Dont bother with RX8 either mate, no torque.

350z again is not close to a 335 in any respect.

Focus RS is a nice car, but bit chavvy and also FWD.

EVO X, try a FQ 360, there supposed to be immense, Rolling though you should hang onto one.

Imprezza STI, well quick enough but pretty ugly.
