2011 Owners

I just saw a thread from a Spanish buyer of a 2011 stating that:

1.) He can use his regular iPod cable in his 2011, 2.) The album art shows up on the nav screen, and 3.) his car has A2DP streaming bluetooth audio.

I did not notice any of these features when I picked my car up in Munich last month, and I'm currently waiting for redelivery. Is the US getting screwed out of these features, or can anybody with a 2011 confirm?

Good info - it looks like you have to use the official Apple cable to get the cover art, and not the BMW cable. This article, however, specifies that these features are for the European market. Anybody with a 2011 coupe/vert in the US able to confirm or deny these features?

+1. Works a treat. And now I'm powering it off the USB port under the armrest so I can stream in radio-readiness mode.

Previously, in the '07 without 6FL I had to use a cigarette lighter adapter for power, and that only worked when the ignition was on.

Thanks for the great info. Does anyone know if the cover art feature will be available with Business Navigation in a 2011 e93. I have a feeling this may only be available to those with Professional Nav...

^^^ To answer my own question, looking at the attached PDF from earlier in the thread, the cover art works in both 606 (Business) and 609 (Professional) navigation when used with the apple usb connector. Awesome!!!

But it also says that this information is for Euro markets only. Still trying to confirm is this feature works in the US, (or Australia for that matter).

i have a blackberry tour and just picked up my e93 on monday(finally) and wanted to know how to stream via bluetooth all my audio in my blackberry, but can seem to figure out how. any advice from enthusiasts?

I believe this is coming later this year... there's a PDF floating around ion the site that mentions A2DP streaming (and AVRCP) and when the feature will be available.

I have a 2011 E93 that i just picked up yesterday, and i tried the apple usb cable, and this does NOT work.

It tells me that it's not supported. Therefore no album art or anything related to that.

I haven't seen a US vehicle with the feature yet, just checked on a 4/10 e92 M3 ZCP today.

The press release said September build 2010, so that M3 is still 5 months early to support it

edit: I meant 09/10 builds to support the new iOS4 iPod out feature via the standard apple usb cable, 09/09 builds in Europe support album art and a few other features via the BMW y-adapter (not sure about here in the US...)

There will be no iPod Out in 09/10 production, only Cover Art support.

Damn. But thank you very much for posting it. I think it might be possible that when they release iPod Out functionality next year (as their video said), it will be retrofittable on cars post september production.

Hi, have you figured out why it doesn't work for you? Is it because you're in USA?

It doesn't work because this feature is only available for US Destined cars that are built beginning in September.
