for having tinted windows? If so, what % do you have and how much was the ticket? I want to tint my windows but also don't want to deal with the extra police hassle...

(I'm especially interested in hearing from SoCal folks!)

iam gonna limo all my windows and i plan on just seeing what happens. if worst comes to worst ill just roll with my fronts down since summer is coming up.. i never really had a problem with tinted windows before.

They usually nail you for tinted windows when they catch you doing something worse (i.e. speeding). Then they nail you for no front plate while they're at it too. There are those cops who are dicks that will pull you over just on having tinted windows, but I think those cases are few and far between.

$10 fix ticket.

You must show a cop or if you know a cop, they can sign off the ticket.

Very simple, I don't even stress.

It doesn't go on your record either. I have gotten about 4.

Im gonna "disagree" with yellow. while im sure some cops in the world are dicks like that, i woiuldnt say they "usually" do this. actually i have gotten pulled over for speeding, and gotten JUST a window ticket before. so my illegal 44 dollar window tint ticket actually saved me a 200-300 dollar speeding ticket and possible points, etc. i have gotten like 5 window tint tickets. I got like 2 of them thrown out cause i knew cops that were able to sign saying i took the tint off. The other 3 were 44 dollars each. no points, no nothign. 100% worth it. i would gladly get 1 ticket per year, which is about what i have gotten, to have 4% limo tint. just DONT carry illegal stuff in your car, or drink and drive. i mean, i shouldnt have to say this anyway, but cops will search you and use the tint as probable cause. then again, if you have been drinking or driving, you should go to jail anyway

20% and Ive luckily not gotten a ticket yet. But Ive gotten one before. I just paid the fine and left it on.

Thanks for the replies, I'm thinking if I get something light maybe cops won't even notice. Or else just gotta re-think about getting that extra beer before I go home for sure....

It all depends on your luck. I know people who got 5% all around and drove for years and never get stopped. And there are folks with 35% and get stop the day after they put it on.
The ticket is a fix it $10 fine and you remove the tint. Or you can pay the heavier fine, around mid 100, and just leave the tint on.

I have 15% all around, got pulled on 101 by morgan hill for front tinted windows and no front license plate. Only 10 dollar fix it ticket. A week later my friend got pulled over on the same part of 101, I believe he has limo tint all around on his civic. The chp seems to be craking down on front window tint and plate.

Every time I got pulled over.....

If I didn't get a moving violation ticket....I got a fixing ticket.....you guess it....TINT!

But if I got the moving violation ticket....I also got....you guess it....TINT!

There's no escaping it in Southern California.......unless you don't get pull over!

5 in the back 15 in the front and ive gotten a fix it once....cop saw my no front plate and told me to roll up my windows.

No front plate is the most common one. IMO definitely not worth the risk. That's the 'ice breaker'. They pull you over for front plate, and then it goes to tint and ultimately the "what's under the hood" question.

ive gotton the tint and no front plate ticket. i know a cop so he signed off on it. honestly its not that big of a deal since it doesnt go on your record..

Has anyone tinted the windshield? I'm thinking if it's like 50% or 60% then it'll be very subtle(maybe cops can't even tell) and still reject all the UV and half the heat. Ah what the hell, it's all luck I guess

i've never put plates on any car i've ever had. i've been pulled over for it specifically twice in 5 years and both times i told them its a new car and the plates haven't arrived. no questions. furthermore, with tint... i've never been pulled over for it specifically, but i've been pulled over probably 8 times in the last 3 years for moving violations, speeding, red lights, whatever... and never been ticketed for the moving violations, they always just give me tint tickets. i know most of the cops in my area....because they've all pulled me over before. and it helps that one of my good friends is an LA County Sherrifs Detective.
