Something similar to these were installed on my car when I purchased it, pics attached. They looked fine, I may have kept them if they didn't have the colors but I ended up replacing them with traditional black kidneys.

Painted matte black to match the kidneys.

I bought these for my E93 in gloss black. Loved the way they looked. For reference my 335i was black with black 230 twist alloys. These really set the car off in my opinion.

Those F3X/F8X def look better without the M stripe/colors. I'm going for more of an OEM + look with my E93 build so I wanted to keep things "period correct" and got gloss black E9X kidneys. I'm also considering the chrome with gloss black slat version.

Hmmm, yeah you’re selling me on the “period correct” stuff lol. I do like the stock look as well. Damn well now idk what to get lol.
