What the hell is this?

So, while I was changing my driver side xenon (surprisingly frustrating job) I came across this little guy just sitting at the bottom of my fender liner below the light assembly. My question is, does it belong somewhere on this car, or is it something my mechanic/previous owner just left in there. Thanks in advance

Maybe a present from a worker on production line or a DIY gone wrong........looks like a bracket that would hold the angel eye in place......but that's just a guess

I've replaced the angel eyes before and never had this part. I was thinking something along the same lines though. Looking like it doesn't belong there.

How big is it? Could it be an extra clip that holds the BMW emblem on the hood?

It's about an inch and a half in diameter.

At 1.5", part of a bulb assembly? I looked on RealOEM and don't see anything. Closest thing I saw was maybe part of the turn signal assembly???

Good guess. A bit different from the turn indicator assembly but similar enough to take a look. Real oem doesn't appear to show a part like this.

Yup he's correct. That's exactly what holds the angel eyes in place. Look at your other side

I know because I did the exact same thing

I replaced my angel eyes with Weisslicht LED upgrades that don't require that piece I don't think. Must have gone with the old bulbs.

Not trying to discredit you since I don't know how Weisslict lights are designed, but when I switched over to Mtec LED AE's I still had to use mine.

There is a piece that looks damn similar to the part pictured. But I did have to reuse those.

No - thats a spacer to hold the Xenon headlight slightly away from the base. That should clip into the xenon light opening and then the bottom side ( of the picture) spaces the D1S bulb off. Its most likely to provide an air gap for cooling

No it still used with all Xenon bulbs. It will space it correctly to give you the correct beam pattern to the light
