Car Vibrates at High Speeds with Winter Tires

I purchased wheels with winter tires as well as the BMW TPMS sensors. I then went to my local shop to have them balanced and installed. But when I picked up the car and drove it on the highway, the car started to vibrate. I can feel the vibration on the steering wheel and thru the seat. I only feel the vibration at high speeds, around 75-85, not that noticeable at lower speeds.

Someone recommended that I do a road force balance on all four wheels to see if they can figure out the problem.

Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and what they did to resolve it.

P.S. The originall 225/45-17 wheels with run flat tires that came with the car didn't have this problem. It started after I put on the wheels with the winter tires.

I could bet you that the after market wheels do not have the same centre bore size as stock. And since the e9x are hub centric. You will need to get hub centric rings for your wheels before you put them on your car. You can balance your wheels as much as you want but unless you're mounting them dead centre onto the hub (which is what the rings are for) you will always get vibration.

According to TireRack, the Sports Edition A7 wheels that I have are "HUB CENTRIC".

The Sport Edition A7 comes in over 50 different fitments in 15" through 18" sizes with some sizes available in a new black finish. The Sport Edition A7 is "hub centric" for many BMW and Subaru applications. This can really simplify seasonal change-out without the need for centering rings that can get lost or damaged. BMW owners will find in many cases that they can use their O.E. center cap to add additional curb appeal.

The wheels are hub centric and don't require the hub centric rings. The center bore on my 2009 E90 335d is 72.56 mm. The Sport Edition A7, 17x7.5 wheel center bore is 72.6 mm, no room for the ring.

Looks like I will start swapping one wheel at a time to see which wheel/tire combination is causing the problem.

Thanks

Bring it back to the shop and have them rebalance. Like someone else said, get RoadForce balanced.
