Which Intake and Exhaust?

I am going to be getting a Cold Air Intake and an Exhaust System on my car, as of now I am thinking of a AFE Magnum with a RE Ikon Muffler.

What do you guys think? (My budget is around $1,000 for both.)

Thanks

I've searched. I've seen videos, I've seen pictures, I've read threads. And none of them have answered my question:

If I'm going to spend ~$500 on exhaust, what/which should I get?

Muffler delete... I've seen a few cars with it, I'll have to think about it.

Also, what do you guys think about the AFE Magnum Intake?

if your budget is limited to ~ 500, IKON is probably the best bet.

good choices pimpstar

i also have a 328i sedan and am considering the same options.

i am on a lease and want to make minimal changes to my sedan in case i don't purchase it, although i probably will.

however, for now i am going to pass on a cold air intake system and simply use an AFE replacement filter. as for a muffler it appears that the IKON is
the best means to get only the muffler and not a complete catback system.

for temporary purposes, i think $500 is way high for a muffler although the sound from the IKON is really nice. all i am after is a better exhaust tone and maybe a reduction in back pressure.

i've been searching the internet for an inexpensive performance muffler that can be mounted in place of the OEM. the problem is that the BMW muffler is mounted sideways as compared to american makers and there is no inexpensive replacement to be found (magnaflow, flowmaster, etc.).

i am considering using a small dimension muffler that can be mounted in place of the OEM which will require minimal bending of the exhaust pipe to mount it diagonally.

if some folks have deleted their mufflers completely and like the sound i am thinking that a small muffler would be adequate to soften the sound a little more to be just right.

any ideas?

then again, what the hell, i shouldn't complain about a $500 muffler for a car that listed for forty large.

Hmm... Thanks.

You want a smaller muffler instead of a muffler delete?

I don't think I can help you there

I run an AFE magnum stage II intake with a muffler delete. Got the intake brand new for around $300 on ebay and did the muffler delete yesterday with tips cost about $130. Cheap mods and sounds mean! I was just going to do the muffler delete until I could get an Ikon muffler but now I don't know if I'll ever put a muffler back on it.

Cool, that's cheap considering what it does to your cars performance/sound. I like the sound of Ikon better than Muffler Delete, so, as of now it's looking like:

-Clutch Delay Valve Delete (?)
-AFE Magnum Cold Air Intake ($300)
-Speed Innovation ECU for 328i ($600)
-Rogue Engineering IKON Muffler ($550)
