Oem Aero Lip issues

so i bought this so called "oem" aero lip for Hp autoworks/motorworks a month ago (about) and I just had it painted and my bodyshop went to put it on and they say the sides will not match up the the end of the bumper for the fenderliner, anyone have this issue? They are telling me that it is not oem and I am pretty pissed at the moment. ( i know it might not be there fault, so please dont think im pointing fingers)

If you purchased a replica, you have to watch out as some brands do not go to the edge of the bumper.

I just got a pm from HP autowerks and they tell me that it is a genuine oem part, is there a way to find out? Is it stamped on the lip or something?

OEM lip would have the OEM part number stamped on it on the inside

Even OEM aerolip has some fitment issues. Only one's I've seen with perfect fitment are the ones that come from the factory.

Looks like you didn't get an OEM Aero Lip. I would definitely demand my money back and return if that's even possible.

Your OEM Aero Lip should fit clean. I bought mine from Bobby at Bavarianx.

you didn't test fit before you got it painted? cuz even if you get your money back(w/c i highly doubt) you'll still be out for the paint expense

Assuming that your car has never been damaged on the front, then did you test fit it before painting - first rule of painting is to make sure it fits before you paint it.

If you didn't test fit it, it will be impossible to blame it on anyone as you don't know if it was defective when you got it or if the painter messed it up when baking it.

My OEM one fits like a glove nice and tight and goes to the edge of the fender and I have seen reps fit better also.

Good luck

Its looks like an ebay lip trust me. My first one I bought was from ebay and everything lined up and fit good except for the ends, it came up a couple mms too short. I had to have my shop mold it to the edge. Now I have the oem and loving it.

The reason I had it painted without being tested is because when i did recieve the lip my car was at BMW, I did not second guess what HP autowerks told me (also I was super excited to have purchased a "oem" lip for a good deal)

Im not trying to bad mouth HP autowerks, they made a mistake because they took the lip from a customer who guaranteed them it was OEM. All I want is for HP to work something with me and stop avoiding me. I think it is shady that I have not been called back when I called, instead they emailed me back with a response of we will check out a oem lip and how it fits.

Exactly what I was thinking. I can't believe how many people (and I see it all the time) don't bother to actually test-fit something before they paint it the product. It takes a couple of minutes to ensure your part will work, rather than go through the hassle & headaches of messing with it after it's painted and in prestine condition.

Now, if you purchased it painted, then that's another thing... but only if it was an actual OEM part and not a replica (those are either hit or miss, and you eat it up if the seller doesn't take it back).
