Just had a text from my mate in the police regarding BMW thefts

"Mate, watch your car, Lots of BMW's being nicked from Chellaston area at the mo, they either break in your house for the keys or they have some technical kit that bypasses BMW security & remaps a blank key. Block it in would be my best advice"

Chellaston is where I live.

Think I'm going to fit a tracker to mine. Not as safe as I would have expected them to be.

do a search on here for 'obd thefts' Also get your car booked in for the security upgrade from bmw...its free and is meant to solve the problem of them re-programming a key

Just disable your OBD port it takes less than half an hour as DIY and gives you peace of mind.

I have had the update done on mine... Also had a tracker fitted... Even when it is sitting on the drive I always log in to the tracker to make sure it is working fine......

Ha, looks like the OBD theft method has migrated out into the Shires from London/Brum.

Took its time though, maybe ebay postage was a bit slow....

+1 search OBD theft, move your OBD port, costs nothing.

Tracker? Who wants their car back when its been nicked? It's a bit like a hidden camera filming the missus shagging the milkman. too late.

You wouldn't want the missus back either

As someone did state to me once, you don't have to keep the car once it's been found. Sell it on if your not happy and get something else
