Question on the aux input wiring

I'm installing my specdock from 2point5 for my iPhone, it connects to the aux input in the center console. To keep the installation cleaner, I'd rather not run the 1/8" cable into the center console and instead wire up another 1/8" jack directly under the the original one, and plug in the cable under the center console. That way you don't see any wires in the console, and I still have the aux input free to hook up anything else. Now on the bottom of the jack, there are 4 wires, I'd presume left and right positive and negative. Anyone know exactly which wire is which?

Would love to do the same
I have a iPhone cable that has a dock connector to stereo mini plug
Would love that wired all the time
And I plug my blackberry stereo audio gateway into the top plug

Looks like the 4 wire colors are white with red, white with green (I believe), purple, and a transparent wire. Any ideas?

wish i had the service manual

you can try different combinations
in any case you are playing with left positive, right positive, and ground
my guess for the 4th wire is it connects to ground when you insert a plug so the car detects a device has been connected

Alright Kmarei got it. Disregard the other wire colors I mentioned, those were from my 2011 328 loaner, thought they'd be the same. My car is a 2007, so I don't have a USB connection like you do, but hopefully the colors are still the same. Once you expose the bottom side of the aux input, follow the wire down the where you see it plug into a harness directly underneath the rear air vents. Don't really know why it does this, but at the harness, on one side the wires are on color, and different colors on the other side. On the side of the harness going towards the radio (away from the jack), you will find a black, yellow, and clear wire. Black is left +, yellow is right +, and the clear wire is common ground. My setup came out perfect! No wires in the center console, iPhone sounds great, and the jack is still free so I can hook up anything to the jack without disconnecting the iPhone. Hope this helps you out.
