What does the ! mean after the Mileage ?

Hi

really simple question please !

What does the ! mark mean after the mileage on the odeometer ?

i.e 34523mls ! 512

I think it means you have some kind of warning message. Check it on the stalk, or use i-drive if you have that.

thanks - its a car I am looking to buy - hence why i wasn't familiar with what it would mean - will get the owner to check !

It could mean anything, low tyre pressures, low screen wash, service overdue etc etc

You mean like the 120 in this picture don't you?

It's your trip meter. You can reset it back to zero whenever you want and use it to measure the distance you have gone.

it sounds like a warning as mentioned above for any number of reasons. And unlike the 330d and 335d and I assume the 6Cyl cars, this symbol is for positioned differently as the 4Cyl cars have a different display set up on their binnacles.

I have noticed a difference between mine (which is as in the pic posted by m@rk) and other cars which I think is a difference due to engine size or auto V manual gearbox?

Someone will no doubt enlighten us. :-)

It's the generic warning - you have to press the B/C to see what it is. Could be just low washer fluid or something.

EDIT - crossed post with above which says much the same thing.

I don't think it's serious though because if it is (a RED fault) then the cause does not go away.

The mileage is stored in the instument panel and also in the LKM. If they do not tally than the mileage tamper warning is displayed which is a dot just after the mileage.
