Disapointed with General Exclaim Tread Wear

I got a punture in my rear passanger side tire last night. I have General Exclaim UHP's on M6 reps. I have had them on the car since the end of June and I have put about 6,000 Miles on them. I took the wheel off and I was shocked that the tread looks about 75% worn! I am almost down to the wear blocks. Based on lots of feedback here and on the tirerack, I thought I would get much, much better wear. I checked the other tires, and it seems to be only the rears. The fronts still look pretty good. I drive pretty easy (no burnouts, etc.!)

Anyone else with this experience?

The wear looks a little worse in the middle, maybe I have had them overinflated?? I run about 38 psi (door jamb says to run 39) in them. My car is an e93. Do you think the extra weight of the convertible over the rear wheels could make any difference?

Yeah that's too high an inflation pressure I think. I generally run about 32-34psi.

BMW recommends you keep your rears inflated at 39psi on the E93. For the run flats, at least.

Looks like too much toe out on that side of the suspension. Go to a alignment shop and check it out.

I have Generals on my car, and not frequently burn out, but I occasionally "accidentally" spin the tires.

I also have a lot of fun in parking lots when its safe... I've had them on for about 8k miles, and they still look good!

Probably your alignment like Charles said.

My Generals wore very similar, I also ran the psi about 38rear, 34 front to try and compensate for the soft sidewall. They wore fast in the middle, the fronts were still good for another season. The added weight of the cab can't help. They really aren't made for a car that weights almost 4000lbs

All that aside, they are the worst tire I've ever had. They make the car feel numb and can't hold a line for shite. You get what pay for.. never again.

I'm currently running Generals and I think the tread wear is great!
I drive pretty hard on the too
Especially in the canyons.
Definitely can't complain considering the price!

Update:

The tireshop that replaced my rear tire measured the tread depth, and found 5/32nd remaining, so technically the tread was 50% worn. Also, they did an alignment check and that wheel was out of alignment. The tread on the rest of the tires looked pretty good.

Given that, I replaced the two rears with 2 more General's. Thanks Gary for helping me out.

Also, there have been a few posts recently about how bad Generals are. For me, they work great. And it's not about money - I could afford more expensive tires is I wanted them. It's about value. They fit exactly what I am looking for - pretty good handling tire at a great price point!

Hmm I've gotten a lot more miles out of mine - I think it may have to do with your alignment as mentioned earlier.
