0-60 for the xi wagon at 6.7; Coupe must be at 6.3-6.5 seconds
I recently saw an article saying that the 328xi sports wagon (3770 lbs.) does 0-60 MPH in 6.7 seconds (see link below). That's 0.4 seconds faster than the manufacturer's spec at 7.1 seconds.
The 328xi 2-door coupe is 3627 lbs or 143 lbs lighter than the 328xi sports wagon, and has lower and sleeker profile. While the manufacturer states 7.0 seconds (0-60), I think it's more like 6.3 - 6.5 seconds, considering that a 148 lb. heavier wagon can do 6.7 seconds. All I know is that when the tranny is in DS mode, the engine has a lot of pulling power, and at mid-range speed, the traction on all 4 wheels really pulls on straight or curving/twisty roads. And I'm getting 28 MPG with 80% highway driving 20% city. As a new owner, I'm really happy with the acceleration of the 328xi coupe and the MPG. I've driven the Audi S5 (V8 and 4.8 seconds 0-60) and Infiniti G37 (5.3 seconds) and I don't really understand why some say the 328 lacks power. I've also driven the A5 3.2 (which I think is tested at 5.8-6.0 seconds) and I don't feel the difference. http://www.aaany.com/CarandTravel/We...orts_Wagon.asp What do other 328xi coupe owners think ? |

Not an owner of a 328, but the first e9x I ever drove was a loaner 328xi wagon that they gave my father. I really pushed the car hard, and loved every minute of it.
With that said, the power of my modded 335xi is much more monstrous, but in the end I really had a blast with that wagon

Hi there,
I was wondering also what do they mean with the "lag". Here in Europe we don't get 328xi but assuming it has 230 hp can't understand what exactly do they mean. Is it something related to the x-drive? I drive a 325xi which is the european equivalent and it doesn't have any lag, a joy to drive. |

With the "lag" they are referring to the throttle response. In D it requires a lot of throttle imput to get the car moving with some urgency. DS seems to alleviate the problem.

I see, in D mode car starts in 2nd gear. In DS, starts in 1st gear. So this explains all I suppose Not a problem, it is that way. |
