Talking Solution found for lag and jerkiness in 328i transmission!

I've found the solution for that annoying lag and jerkiness in 328i transmissions that everyone complains about, especially me! The answer?

Active Autowerke's 328i ECU tune. Yes!

I got the tune applied to my 328i, and WOW! I cannot believe the difference. The tune totally removed the hesitation and jerkiness in my transmission. The car finally drives like I had expected it to all along. I am so happy you wouldn't believe it! I also got some new springs put on, and it's like I bought a completely new car today.

This is a FANTASTIC product! Highly recommended if you want your 328i to drive like BMW's should...I'm sure it'll do the same for the other BMW Series.

Thanks to Viral at AA for all of the help!

Kudos to Import Motor Werks in Cary, NC for helping with the tune, as well!

I actually had the ECU removed and shipped to AA in Miami. It was back and in the car in less than 4 days.

Just did the AA tune this week as well. I absolutely love it. I am going to write up a review in a little bit. But I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Great tune! Highly recommend you clear your adaptations as well (ex: fuel/air, VANOS, VVT, Intake Manifold, Throttle, Octane, etc.). It's even better after.

the pmx? you mean PBX or BMS PBX? haha

I currently have the pbx installed, but turned off. Am going to take it out soon. But want to research turning it on map 4-6 for better throttle plus the AA tune.

if not, I will uninstall it.

Update...

Just wanted to add that I just finished my first tank with the new tune, and got 3.1 mpg better than before. One more reason to love this tune.

This thread is a bit misleading as the jerkiness and lag is due to the BMW's poor throttle response (which the AA fixes) and not an inherent transmission problem...

No...

When you let off the pedal, the car immediately drops rev and tries to downshift and does so in a very jerky manner. It's really bad especially when coming to a stop, you can feel it.

The Tune smooths out the downshifts/upshifts and gives a fairly linear throttle response.

I just had mine go in today on my 6MT and god, I got nerd chills as soon as I stepped on the gas.

1st and 2nd gear low RPM cruising (like in parking lots) is significantly smoother as well as low end acceleration in those gears. I can feel a bit more low end power even below the 1500 RPM mark where my car used to have no power at all.

When I first got my car, I wasn't very happy because mid and high end RPM whined pretty high pitched and didn't have the nice growl that my dad's 535is e28 had even at idle. The tune changed all that.

At mid and high RPMs the engine now has the roar to match it's power. It's a smooth pull all the way up to redline and I've fallen in love all over again.

And these are my impressions after only driving it 2 miles back to my office! I can't wait to get it onto the open road.
