I'm waiting to hear back from GIAC about their flash. Dinan still has nothing.
Vishnu claims it will work, but I'd like to see someone try it first.
Anybody else look into it?

FYI - Shadow tint was $670 for 3m across the front. Quality install
- Calgary BMW has fix for BMW apps now
- I still don't have a fix for myinfo. Can't send maps to car
Im waiting till the spring. No need really for a tune in the winter time. There should be more options for tunes available next year. I had a jb3 on my old n54 335 so I know the power you are talking about. It basically turns the car into a different animal.

Maybe (as some may have understood already) I'll see if I can drop it next spring, new suspension, coils or whatever it needs to feel like a sport suspension.

It has already PLENTY of power for me. Unless I would be tracking, I can't see the need for more power... I'M already always over the speed limits so...

So far i havent been able to really push the suspension but its comfortable! I just love the gargling when you release the throttle at like 3000rpm in 2nd, mmmmm
When mine was broken in I took it up the road to the mountain here ..very little traffic. I wanted to wring it out a bit and see how it feels with some more aggressive driving. I came out of a turn onto a straightaway and pushed it a bit. I really wasn't paying attention to the speed but wondered what all the wind noise was.............. looked down and was doing 200km/hr. I just about sh$# myself....very stable.

Oh man that sucks bad. Might as well wait till spring now - we'll be dodging gravel for 5 months.

Do you think I should get the crack filled? I normally don't replace windshields unless absolutely necessary..I must be a magnet for rock chips and subsequent crackage! LOL

Never tried to fill a windshield crack (there's a great joke in there somewhere). Given the love that both our city councils have with the gravel mix in winter, I guess you could try the crack repair - in any case, I wouldn't even look at replacement till the spring. Maybe call your dealer and see if they have any magic.

I bought the AMI autoglass insurance- it was about $ 250/yr but you have to start with a clean window. The problem with the crack is that now it's got a place to go when the window gets thermally stressed like defrost.

Yeah a lot of real small micro scratches. Only visible at night in the right light. It's a little disappointing for such a high end vehicle.

Just a response to some of the comments about stereo, I just figured out that the EQ setting on my iPod hooked to USB Aux affects the sound quality! I was eq'ing an Eq! Just hope I'm not the only one!

I'm not sure if the 3 series has that capability?

I know the 5 series does as a collegue of mine in Vancouver owns a 5 something and it reads TXT messages.

Happy for you that it is clean now!

On my side ....

Well I had a car until 1999 kms! (break-in)

Now since yesterday I have a totally different one at 2000 + kms!!!

The power is so impressive, I can't beleive it...from 4500 to 6500 wow! It is a BEAST!

So this week-end we went to NYC, approx. 500-600 kms each way, I was happy cause I knew that yesterday on the way back to MTL I would hit the 2000 km mark.

On the way back, there was no traffic on the 87, the lady was sleeping, the ipod was playing loud, so I've said to myself : to hell with it!

So I've set the radar detector in the windshield and the cruise control at 145 KM / hour, for like 300 kms, man that was fun...at one point I think I went to 170-180 (not on the cruise though, for a very short period, and it was stable altough I think the place from where I bought my winter setup would have to rebalance them, over 125 I feel a small shake).

At fist I've set the speeding warning in the Idrive at 130, then 140, finally, I've set it at 150 , it was simply too annoying...

I never go more than 130 here in Québec because our speeding tickets fines are very very punitive (we have a point system that makes your license, plates, and insurance go up), and 120 is tolerated, so short bursts at 130-140 is not a great risk. Anyways...

So it was a super-fun ride....until I got pulled over by a NY state cop for speeding! It was so dark out there, I think the guy just opened his radar at the last second, the radar detector went crazy, but the guy flashed me, it was too late...I never knew where he was sitting.

So he asked me :

Cop : is it possible you were speeding a little sir?

Me : it is probable officer, to be honest it is a new car and I think I haven't been paying attention for the last minute or so...

Cop : is it possible you were running a radar detector there sir? (I guess my speed went from 145 to 115 in seconds)

Me : Since I knew it is legal in the states I simply answered : yes I was.

CoP : well I might be one of those situations were those things don't work too well I guess. (no kidding).

So finally he came back, after like 5 minutes.

Cop : Sir, since you are not from around here and that you were very honest answering my questions I'm gonna let you go with a "non-observation of a traffic sign" instead of speeding, consider this as a warning. By the way if you stay at 120 km/hr, you'll be fine around here...

Me : Thank you officer!

So on the day that I ended my break-in period, I got pulled over by an american cop, and (almost) got away with it!

Ain't that a good story?

P.s: I still don't know how much the ticket is going to be, I have to plead guilty first, but by the way the officer was speaking, I was a minor thing. So in the end it WAS WORTH THE FUN RIDE!!!
