Eibach pro kit and shocks
I was planning on getting the Eibach pro kit springs installed and leaving my stock shocks. I have ben rethinking this as of late due to some reviews and comments I have read on this forum. There has been a lot of talk about the ride being rougher than stock when the roads are at all bumpy due to the pairing with stock shocks. I also understand that the Eibachs will cause the shocks to wear out more quickly.
I put eibachs on my last car an Audi a4 with the stock shocks and loved them. The ride was great. I did have to replace my shocks 60k miles after the eibachs were installed but that didn\'t strike me as anything crazy. Any thoughts and or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, |

I have them on my xi. Drop is perfect. About 1.5 finger gap to middle of fender. Ride isn't that harsh. I'm removing them for winter. Would u be interested buying them?? I'm planning on getting coilovers. Going more extreme.

Its not rough at all
Yes your shocks will wear out more quickly but it won't be tomorrow or 3 weeks time. If this was a crap option so how many people wouldn't have done it and so many people wouldn't continue to do it - it's a cost effective solution that provides a good drop for aesthetics + lower centre of gravity which offsets the bad points being shocks wear out slightly quicker and the feeling of the car being 'underdamped' over undulating roads. If you can afford coilovers, go with that. Otherwise put the springs in and see how you feel, you can always upgrade shocks later to the Koni FSDs which work very well with the Eibach Prokit. |

From what I've researched, the spring rate of the eibach pro-kits closely match the spring rate of ZSP springs. So if you already have a sport suspension to start, then only swapping in eibach springs and leaving the stock shocks wouldn't cause premature wear. But in my case, my stock is non-sport suspension. With a lower spring rate, the eibach's would most likely affect the dampers in respect to rebound on dips, potholes and speedbumps. The would most likely cause premature wear as well, but nothing like tomorrow or next week like another member said.
But it then comes down to cost. You have to assess, how many miles do you already have on your stock shocks?? Only 5K, then you can probably get away with leaving the stock shocks for a while. 50K? then you might want to consider upgrading your shocks. That's what I ended up doing, and got me some BMW Performance shocks. 2 more days and I finally get this done! Can't wait! Good luck OP |

It's not just spring rate that causes accelerated wear, it's the fact that the shocks are constantly being compressed more (at rest) because of the shortened springs.

Hard to gauge exactly. Depending on your driving conditions, roads, passenger weight, driving habits, etc, etc. Could last 10k could last another 30K.
